    WH ld4655vx no power issues?

Hello all, I am new to the forum and have a general knowledge of electronics. I have recapped several computer monitors and tinkered with a few tvs. I have a westinghouse ld4655vx that is getting no power. I have no lights when plugged in, which I am told will have a amber logo light when plugged in, that switches to blue when powered on.. I opened it up and was hoping to see some obv bad capacitors, however, I didnt. I am suspecting the main board is bad,I found one for $110, and got the tv free..but..If I could fix the board myself , I would be happier. I just dont know where the fuses are and the voltages that they should be reading..Any help would be greatly appreciated...I will post pics of the board in a few...

Hi and welcome to the forum. I would be looking at the PSU first. The fact that you don't have an indicator light tells me that the PSU is malfunctioning. Remember, caps don't HAVE to be bloated to be bad.

Start by checking all the pins on the PSU and see if you are getting any voltages there. If not, then you most likely have some bad caps or other components.

Also, it's going to be best if you can post good clear photos of the back of the whole chassis and at least the PSU for starters.

This tv only has one board,, it uses a ac/dc ext power supply.. I have tested the power supply and it works..Just wondering where to go from there , which pins to check and I cant really tell if there are fuses on this board...Or none I am familiar with

Hey thesupa, I have no experience with this style TV but from inspecting the main board, it "looks" as if there was a component that may have heated up and fell off the board.

Have a look at the image attached and then inspect the board closely where you see my red mark.

Also, take you meter and test all the pins on the connector second from the right. The one that has 10 colored wires. Try testing some points where the DC adapter plugs into the board as well. I have to imagine that the DC adapter still has some sort of shutdown mode. Just make sure that power IS coming into the board.

Well, I went to plug in the board, so i could take some readings. I got smoke as soon as i plugged it in...The left side ribbon cable was melting . So figuring that had a short in it, and after reading another post about this,,I unplugged that ribbon cable and plugged it back in, and it is working ,,it is alittle dim on that side.. That cable is ran through the tv chasis then comes out in the front bottom left corner..It has never been dropped , so i am curious as to why that wire ended up shorting...Now i just need to find a cable...12pin flat pressed ribbon cable.

Or do you think the board caused the wire to short, I could test this by plugging the right side ribbon into the left side output on the board, but am afraid I am going to screw that ribbon up too!!!Any thoughts?

                  by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                  Assuming...

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
                  by PantherDave
                  Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                  Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

hey guys, hoping for some pointers to repair an eBay bought "faulty" laptop.

Ill try and give as much info as I can.

                  Service Tag: 5J0NHT2
                  Bios: 1.9.0

When I received this , it would only flicker on the KB backlight for a second, then off and on.
                  Then it started getting weirder!
Sometimes when attaching the AC power supply, and pressing various pre-boot diagnostic keyboard keys... it did try to boot, in fact out of a hundred attempts, the laptop did actually boot into the Bios ! but never has...

                  Original NES power issues
                  by sli4
I recently turned on my old NES to find the red light won't go on at all. When powered on it shows black bars on the tv and a loud buzz through the tv speakers. Powering it off, the buzz goes away and tv goes back to normal (white snow).

I tested the power supply itself and it is outputting 9V as it should - first two solder joints on the board at the power port show the same.

Here's where it starts getting funky - When powered on, one side of the 7805 voltage regulator is showing 18V and the other is about 8.7V (center 0).

On the big blue connector I get...
