Panasonic TX-P42C2B red light flashes 4 times

Hi, I cant believe this!! I was just talking to my dad over the phone about joining this site and blow me down his TV packed up the other day!! He has a Panasonic TX-P42C2B that powers up and then give 4 red flashes, pauses and then give 4 red flashes again! He had tried a replacement PSU from an online TV parts supplier, he had taken it to a shop and they said it was was a short on the X or Y sus board (he cant remember what one they said) and wanted to charge him a fortune to fix it. Can I just check if that sounds correct and is it worth fixing as they said it might be the panel as well.

Thanks again for such a great site, I hope to one day be able to help someone else out with my tips or advice

Very common issue on this set, and it is as said correctly a short on the SC or SS (Y-sus / Z-sus)
You seem to get a lot of TVs...

Thank you for confirming this, am I just looking at those two possible boards to be replaced? or could it cost even more as my dad would happily pay about £100 to get it fixed.

You can unplug SC, power set up: if it blinks 6 or 7 times, problem is with SC board.

If it still blinks 10 times, unplug SS (SC should be reconnected), then if it blinks 8 times it is the SS board.
