Im working on a sanyo dp42848 which you can make out whats on the screen but theres no color / low contrast. As far as i know this is a tcon error, so im probably gonna pick one up from a badcap member who's tv was incapacitated during a backlight repair. (Plan to sell the set right after its working, cause looks like these sanyos fail all the time from backlight issues)
I wanted to check Budm's guide to tcon faults first before buying it, but i cant find it from searching here, maybe hes one of those people who call them LCD controllers
Checked all the PSU voltages and theyre great, doesnt shut off (so no backlight issues), and checked for 12v at test point on TCON and i get it. Problem affects all inputs and menus.
I have a feeling when tcons do this type of fault, its due to them no longer producing sufficient voltage to fully turn on the pixels, but i suppose the problem could be related to something in the panel / but it seems logically that a disconected connection would leave some areas not functioning at all (sort of similar to sonys with bad tab bonding only having half some of the screen too bright / slow to change), and not produce a even affect over the whole screen.
