    Sony Bravia KDL-46WL135 White Display

    Hey everyone!
I recently purchased a non working Sony KDL-46WL135 that displays a white screen when turned on. Whenever I press the channel buttons the screen will fade to black then return to the white screen. I read that a T-Con could possibly cause this to happen. I purchased a replacement T-Con with the same part number but get the same results with either one. There is a secondary board that attaches to the T-Con where the ribbon cable and power is supplied. The secondary board from what I read is called a UB2 board. I have tested power to the UB2 board and is receiving the correct 12v and 6v from the power supply.Could this cause the issue or do I have a faulty panel? Thanks in advance!

    T-Con board # 404652FIX2HC6LV1.2
    UB2 board # A1519918A

Could also be a faulty main board.

    Any pics of the internals?

I doubt this will do anything but have you tried entering the service menu to reset it?

With TV switched on, left, right, mute, center button, mute, menu

It could be another button combination, thats just the result of a quick google search.

Worth a try til one of the experts pipe in

Can you post with the manage attachments feature.

And some nice clear close ups of the power board and mainboard.

I will disassemble it some more and remove the cover on the other half of the main board to get some better pics. I will post them up here in a little bit. I tried the service menu sequence you posted and it just turned the right hand 1/3 of the screen black but didn't display anything.

Maybe you could navigate your way down to the reset?

Dont try it yet though, unless Tom66 agrees.

I hooked up cable to the tv tonight. It has sound and changes channels fine. The display shows multicolored lines and changes with the scene of the program. The heatsink on the UB2 board that is directly below the T-Con is quite warm only after running for 5 mins. Any thoughts?

Another quick update. After running for 15 mins. it has a picture now. The picture looks a little dim in the center, and the right 2/3rd's of the screen looks a little distorted compared to the left 1/3 of the screen. It's kind of hard to see in the pictures.

Well that stinks. I am going to let the tv cool down, fire it back up and see if it has all the lines like it did when I first tuned it on. Do you think I could take a heat gun and warm up the tab bonds when the tv is cold to see if I get a picture right away instead of everything warming up to rule out any defective boards?

It could be bad tab bonds on the LCD panel, I would take a hair dryer and heat the area where the ribbon cables go into the panel from the T-CON going along the entire top of the panel, and you can try carefully twisting the panel a little with the back removed. check out my thread here:

Thanks for the replies everyone. I just turned it back on and the picture was working, then just barely twisted the panel and the picture froze and all the lines came back. Twisted the panel the other way and the picture came back. Definitely bad tab bonds. Time to tear it apart.

                              Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...

I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on. The indicator flashes red 3 times.
I do not hear any sound and I cannot see any backlight.
I have tried disconnecting every cable on each board one at a time to see if anything changes.
The only change is when I disconnect AC-DET cable on the Power Supply board or on the other end if I unplug the CN7009 connection on the B-Board and try to power on the TV the indicator will stay on solid green until I power off.
My friend ordered another used power supply board but it is also doing the red indicator flash 3 times...

                              Sony KD-55X9000F TCON Issue
                              by thelankanguy
The TV shows a black screen with no image.
TCON ribbon connectors were disconnected individually for image and there was no half image even.
Later both ribbons were disconnected and TCON voltages were tested.
12V, 3.3V, 1.8V were seen present but VONE signal reads 0V.
There is also a short to ground in this circled inductor.
Is this a TCON issue or something else ?...

I was asked to look at a Sony KD-55X8509C as it was not powering on, no lights.

On inspection, there was no physical issues.
I seated all cables and repowered the TV, then the LED light flashed Green / Amber.
                              - this seems to indicate repairing required, done by Firmware update.
so downloaded the latest Firmware from Sony website and wrote to 4Gb USB drive.
Inserted the drive and repowered the TV.
LED changed to white flashing/pulsing ... and it sat there for over an hour.

i was unsure what was happening so repowered the TV and now it just...

                              Hi,

I have this problem with my Sony 55' AG9.
                              It flashes 4x.
I have found the service manual, and seems it is the TCON.

Before I buy a TCON can someone check the vid?

                              Thanks in advance!...
