    Wanted LG 37LH5000-ZB screen problem!

from switch on black screen with some twitchy lines at very top

after a few mins some white showing in patches with vertical lines

then 5 to 10 mins later white screen with lines, top centimetre of screen showing image

Almost hour later full image that freezes followed later by nice minty picture!!

    advice help welcome

voltages all good at psu but noticed at t-con fuse getting 11.80 changed smoothing cap on 12v rail still the same!

    thanks Ronnie

    LG panel?
    Tab bonds.

I considered that Tom but it's not like the one's I have seen! flexing and poking in the area makes no diffrence likewise when picture is perfect no prodding or poking can make it go bad again

I would see if a t-con is cheap. If it is I would swap it. But I suspect the panel.

that's my worry too, t-con is £30 main board near £40, dilema!! I have a hunch it is not the screen but am often wrong lol

            Hi,

I have a Vizio VL370M with the same or very similar problem.
Mine has a bad tab bond. Perhaps they use the same panel?
Try heating the upper left of the screen with a hair dryer and see if the time to a full good image decreases. My bad bond is on the upper left.
I was able to get a dramatic decrease in the time after heating.
I tried a couple different types of material to put pressure on the tab bond and could not find a reliable fix.
            Good luck.

            Mike

thanks Mike, I was at it with the hair drier it made no diffrence what panel is in yours?

                Ronnie,

I put the set back together and didn't write down the panel number, Sorry.
I seem to recall that if the set was horizontal (with the panel facing up) - the on time seemed to decrease.
I assumed that it was due to more heat being trapped in that area and not escaping through the vents in the top if the set was vertical.
If you have the metal trim removed from the panel and the set horizontal - try the hair dryer again on the upper left tab bond area. Mine seemed to be sensitive in the area where the ic is bonded on the flexible circuit board. This is between the panel and long narrow board that attaches to the t-con.

                Mike

                  Hi Mike,

Yes I stripped the screen and applied heat and behold picture within mins!

Only heat worked tho not touching or pushing made it work, so yes another bad panel, not good! at least I never spent money on boards

thanks to you and Tom for input

                  cheers Ronnie

Sometimes the bonding on the edge of the LCD itself can fail, instead of on the driver board.

                        Ronnie,

Glad to help. This forum has helped me a lot in solving problems and I like to give back if I can provide good information.
If you find a way to solve the problem please post - it might resurrect my Vizio.
When I have a bit of time I intend to try pieces of a silicone backing sheet in that area to provide pressure. Maybe the fault isn't on the actual bonding of the flexible circuit board to the panel or driver board but the connections of the IC to the flexible board?

                        Mike

                          Ronnie,

Had a typo in my last post. I meant silicone "baking" sheet instead of "backing" sheet.
The material should easily withstand the temperatures.

                            Hi Mike,

Yes I spent some time with that silicone stuff but no results, I have managed it in the past on an lg 42 lcd and it worked well but I have given up on this one

                              Screen Display Vertical Multicolor Lines
                              by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

                              Hi all
I have lines on the screen...which is an age old problem that can be remedied by watching Youtube videos and getting out the tape.
My issue (after successfully fixing a different sammy tv with a separate tcon board and isolating the side of the panel...):

This tv has an integrated tcon...so it is a bit more confusing when trying to isolate the clocks.
It has a c ribbon and i have taken each end out to see if that will isolate the lines. instead, it makes it much worse ALL over the tv!

So....i don't know what end of the C ribbon to work with...

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

As stated by the person I collected the TV from, it just stopped working overnight. However, I still gave it a go to try and repair it.

There is a thread on the same TV but with slightly different issues where they had to tape connection points on the ribbon cable, so I want to see if this is repairable by any chance.

After bringing it home and plugging it in, the TV turned on with its backlight working but had no picture. After removing the back cover, the first thing I tried is to unplug one of the ribbon cables and the situation is as follows.

                              Left...

                              Hello again everyone,

This is my latest mission, to try getting this Sony tv back to normal working order…

I've only just got it today, when you power it up everything is as should be, in fact it works perfectly for a few minutes then the screen starts getting horizontal lines on & eventually the full screen goes back, I will upload photos of the problem & also some photos of the board etc. You might notice that I'm busy trying the tape method, I'm not sure exactly where the clock lines are so I'm just guessing & hoping for the best lol . I've already tried...
