• Re: LG 47LV5400 digital snow

Hi,

That problem looks exactly like one that I had with a 42LV5500.
It is the solder joints on the main processor.
Baking the board in an oven will NOT fix it on a permanent basis.

The correct way to repair it is to use a service that removes the chip and replaces the solder paste and remounts the chip.
I have had very good experiences with Nick's TV in Arizona.

You need to check his web site with the main board number and see if he offers the service for that board. Prices are listed...

Hi,
I think Nick's tv can do a board repair for that problem.
I have used their service several times and can recommend them.

• Re: Samsung UN46D6003SF Won't Turn On

I saw that ad and contacted the seller. He stated he did NOT have the flash for main board for the UN46D.
Thanks for responding. Seems like someone could make some money selling these.

• Re: Samsung UN46D6003SF Won't Turn On

I just looked at one of these sets for a relative.
It was stuck in the "on" position - no functions on the remote or front panel buttons would work. There would be an indication from the led on the front panel that it was receiving a signal from the remote or a button press but nothing happened. The folks had to unplug it to turn off - couldn't change source, volume, any other functions.
I check all the cables and even unplugged the cable to the ir sensor board and it stayed "on".
I froze the eeprom also...

• Re: Circuit board for vintage 400 day clock

Hi,

I'm finally able to close this thread and I'm happy to report that the clock is working!
My friend contacted this Ebay member from Great Britain that listed a TAA780A.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/TAA780A-SemiConductor-MAKE-Generic/401598663897?hash=item5d81254cd9:i:401598663897:rk:1:pf:0

There was no photo of the part in the listing and after a while they provided a picture. The part appeared to be the same except for a different color case. The part was ordered and installed in...

How about suction cups from Harbor Freight?

They even have a dual version.

I'd like to thank Redwire and R_J for all their help in resolving this issue.
The clock isn't fixed yet but I'm light years ahead of where I was before posting the message.
Identifying the ic was very important.
Thanks again!

More info on the mystery part. This German website shows the contents inside the package. That's why it has four leads.
Also a sort of application circuit.

Wow! That is an exact match for the transistor - except for the color of the case.

• Re: Circuit board for vintage 400 day clock

Thanks for the responses.
The green item is a 15mf 3v tantalum cap. The black item is a ceramic cap .056 3v and the resistor is 100k. The resistor checks ok in circuit. Haven't pulled the caps yet but they aren't shorted.
I'll check into the case package for the transistor.

• Circuit board for vintage 400 day clock

Hi,

I'm trying to get information about a circuit board for a vintage 400 day clock.
I am not sure of the brand name of the clock but the marking on the underside of the circuit board say "Hermle" and there is a number "865".
The jeweler who is repairing the clock says it's an electronic problem and removed the circuit board for analysis.

Can anyone identify the component in the top side photo? It might be a transistor but it has four leads. The only marking is a partial number that might be "780". The case is a reddish...

• Re: Vizio E7-E3 Black Screen

Hi,
I just fixed a E65u-D3 that I thought had bad leds. Fortunately, I checked the voltage going to the led strips on the power supply board and there was nothing. Since there was no power to the leds it also passed the "flashlight test". The actual problem was a bad diode and not the led strips.
I don't have the power supply board number in my notes but maybe your set uses the same or similar supply.
If you can find a photo of the power supply board for the E65U-D3 the part that I replaced was labeled D103 and was marked...

• Vizio M550SL flash memory or main board needed

Hi,

I picked up a Vizio M550SL for free. I'm pretty confident that I've diagnosed the problem and the flash memory is corrupt. I don't want to put much money into the set but would be willing to buy a preprogrammed chip or an entire main board if it's relatively cheap. I haven't found anyone selling a replacement chip on Ebay, etc. Cheapest main board is about $100 on Ebay.

This set uses several different versions of the main board. This tv uses board number 3655-0412-0150(5D), serial number LAQKMCAN1400396 and panel number LC550EUA AE MI

This model...

• Re: Vizio E65U-D3 replacement led info needed

Budm,

Thanks for the response. Yes, I'm aware that I need to do that before ordering.
Shop jimmy only has one set of replacement strips listed for that model. Could be that's the only one they stock and there are other strips used in different panels.

I don't have the set yet but will be picking it up Saturday. I'll find the panel and complete model numbers at that time.

The tv is only about 1 1/2 years old. Fortunately, the owner bought a one year extended warranty. She will get store...

• Vizio E65U-D3 replacement led info needed

Hi,

Does anyone know what led's are used on the strips of a Vizio E65U-D3?
Shop Jimmy has the replacement strips listed but they are backordered.
Their number is SVG650A28-REV05-LED-STRIPS. I might try to replace the individual defective leds if I can find a source.

I'm wondering if the strips use the same LG/Innotek leds used in the 50LN series of LG tv's which I think are 3 volt 1 watt.

Thanks,
Mike

• Re: LED Shop light - EMI problem - Chip info needed

Thanks for all the suggestions. Now I just need some time to try things like common mode chokes.
We finally have a day without rain in this part of the country and I have to catch up on my grass cutting.
I'll report back with my progress soon.

I don't think the chip is made by http://tpw-asic.com, it does not have their logo.

• Re: LED Shop light - EMI problem - Chip info needed

The power supply is not connected to a ballast. Line voltage comes into the board on the left side and 65 volts dc is on the right side connected to the led strings.
Originally, the board had thick heat shrink around it and a piece of double sided tape that held it against the light housing. I tried sliding a piece of metal conduit over the board - also no difference in the noise.
Should I try the ferrite rings on the output side to the leds?
Pin 1 of the ic has a 4.7mf 50 volt electrolytic connected and it's...

• LED Shop light - EMI problem - Chip info needed

Hi,

I have a bunch of 4ft. led shop lights purchased from a farm store that have severe radio interference. Seems like any weaker station gets wiped out if the lights are turned on. Very bad on 103.1 but also any weaker fm station. Didn't realize the problem until well after the purchase and also I really like the brightness of the lights and don't want to return them.
There are two banks of leds (110 in each row) - the 110 leds are grouped in 5 parallel banks of 22 leds in series. So there are actually 10 parallel banks of 22 leds in series.
There is a boost type...

• Re: LED Backlight Mod

Hi,

I've modified a couple of LG 50LN5400 sets for myself that use the BD9483F chip.
The spec sheet is here:
https://www.rohm.com/datasheet/BD9483F/bd9483xx-e

If you read the specs you will find a formula to determine the current allowed to flow through the leds. Raising the resistors will lower the current.
The boards that I modified had an array of surface mount resistors near the chip on the bottom. I'd suggest measuring those resistors and see what those values yield in the current formula....
