No hdmi on Sony Bravia kdl40s4100

I know this is an older tv, but other than the hdmi ports not working, it still has a beautiful picture ( albeit through component.) After a thunderstorm with incredible lightning strikes, my hdmi ports stopped working. My digital cable dvr, which was the only device with power connected to the tv through hdmi during the storm, fried. As well as my cable modem. The xbox and blueray were not powered on, and survived, but cannot get a picture through hdmi. I have read through some forums, about "no picture and sound", but I am positive that my problem resulted from the storm. Now onto my questions....... Which board in the TV is the likely culprit? I don't see any burnt or loose connections. I was hoping it could be narrowed down to one board just by my explanation. Are there places on the inverter board or power board that deal with hdmi soley?

    Thanks!

In this case, it'd be the main board; this is the board with the HDMI and video connectors on it.

Can you just swap out main boards, or are they specific to certain serial numbers, or have some encryption?

      Thanks

They are specific to model numbers, usually. You will need to open the TV up, identify the main board, and get the part number off the label. Take pics and post back if you need help identifying anything.

You cannot just swap boards in a Sony without consulting a cross reference. Sony will use different combinations of boards and panels in the SAME model of TV. The boards and panels are incompatible and not interchangeable between versions. The only way to determine the correct version is by consulting a cross reference, using the serial number of the unit. Newer models will use the same main board across several models and sizes, and when you install the board, you must also install the correct firmware for the TV it is going into, which then makes it the correct board for that model. If you then put that board into another unit of a different size or model, it will not work. So you can actually install a board with the correct part number and not have it work, if its a pull form another TV.

In short, Sonys are a nightmare for the do-it-yourselfer. I have seen a lot of posts on here from people trying to replace boards in Sony TVs and having difficulties because of this.

Yikes! Note to self: Stay away from Sony TVs

Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on
              by PopsCaps
I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on. The indicator flashes red 3 times.
I do not hear any sound and I cannot see any backlight.
I have tried disconnecting every cable on each board one at a time to see if anything changes.
The only change is when I disconnect AC-DET cable on the Power Supply board or on the other end if I unplug the CN7009 connection on the B-Board and try to power on the TV the indicator will stay on solid green until I power off.
My friend ordered another used power supply board but it is also doing the red indicator flash 3 times...

Sony Bravia KDL-40Z4500 hdmi not working anymore
              by DS-1
              Hi guys!

I have this old but gold 40" Z4500 Sony Bravia LCD TV that had the first issue with HDMI1 port after a couple of years I bought it (in 2008): I connected a cable from an Xbox 360 to HDMI1 and something went wrong, because from that moment HDMI1 port stopped to work. No audio and black screen appeared.

A couple of weeks ago HDMI2 port also stopped working: I used it connected to my PC with a DVI to HDMI cable. Now, like for HDMI1 port, I have no audio and no video in it. And it's a shame because HDMI2 was the only port to support analog audio in.

              by justin35
              Hello,
i have this sony bravia kdl-43w755c which boot loops. After sony logo, it shows the android animation loading then it restarts…
from what i read online it looks to be an emmc issue…
i’m not familiar with this kind of tv repairs… i’m repairing laptops and gpu’s…
i took out the board and say an samsung 16gb emmc
              i don’t have an exact replacement, but i have a few 32 and 64gb emms’s from laptops…
i could try to put one instead of the 16gb one, but will it work?
where do i get the software from?
any help will be much appreciated!...
