Can you just swap out main boards, or are they specific to certain serial numbers, or have some encryption?

I know this is an older tv, but other than the hdmi ports not working, it still has a beautiful picture ( albeit through component.) After a thunderstorm with incredible lightning strikes, my hdmi ports stopped working. My digital cable dvr, which was the only device with power connected to the tv through hdmi during the storm, fried. As well as my cable modem. The xbox and blueray were not powered on, and survived, but cannot get a picture through hdmi. I have read through some forums, about "no picture and sound", but I am positive that my problem resulted from the storm. Now onto...
