How do people do this to electronics? Seriously?

I was walking to the shops today and nabbed this "POLAROID" 32" LCD TV (made by Vestel.) Obviously the screen was completely wrecked so I only wanted it for parts.

Upon getting it home I seriously wondered how they had managed to do this damage because not only was the screen bust but they had warped the main board and made several cracks in the power supply. The other parts survived.

Also I've had a lot of experience with Vestel TVs. Very dodgy cost saving measures. For the 24V, 7.5A output, they use 5x3A diodes in parallel. Which is a very, very bad idea... Also, there's no PFC capacitor, the main output capacitors are used for the power factor correction, which means they have about 2.5Ap-p of ripple through each.

Some badcaps member failed to get it fixed and took it out on the tv - Senioki? had a bad day - and run over it in his bus (Just joking ) do you hear from him - not seen any posts for some time.

    EDIT

Anyway I thought that was what YOU would often like to do to Vestel boards

Hah yes I am good friends with him and we fix TVs together when we get time.

Yes I have taken to a Vestel power board with a hammer (after replacing just about everything on it.) It made me feel much better. However, I would never smash a good working screen! Even if it is a Vestel inside!

Well - it had a stuck pixel and someone suggested tapping the screen. It didnt go away so I tapped a bit harder !!!!!

Plenty of snow where I am.

I notice it says "Produced for Asda Stores Ltd" so I guess Asda bought the Polaroid name or sticking on tellies.

Or it could of been thrown off a ledge lol, I have seen one video where someone just smashed a vizio tv that stopped turning on with a construction excavator and then just buried it :p

Probably got mad at it and threw it out their window :P

Or a kiddie pushed it over :S

Ever seen the 'Angry Grandpa' show on Youtube? I find it funny, but it is staged. There is a few electronics smashing things in there xD I am guessing they are electronics they picked up off the curb :P

Re: How do people do this to electronics? Seriously?

A friend of mine gave me some parts/boards from a few Dell computers - more precisely a GX260 (?) motherboard, a Dell MMS 5650 mainboard (5.1 speaker system), 2 HiPro power supplies, and a bunch of other peripheral Dell stuff. He said he found that computer stuff thrown away and decided to take them apart.

Not sure what he did or how he "took them apart", but the entire port area of the GX260 motherboard was broken off and gone! The MMS 5650 mainboard also had a huge chunk of PCB missing out of it. I guess he must have only used a hammer and cutters.

Luckily, he took out the subwoofer speaker from that MMS 5650 without damaging it. Also, the 3 amplifier ICs on the MMS 5650 mainboard are all fine as well. So I may build me a decent sound system sometimes in the future. The HiPro PSUs have only cut fan and voltage selector wires. I already put one of them in a "new" case (since he didn't have the cases).

Howdy folks! I'm an artist in the video game industry, and my job entails making a lot of mechanical and sci fi assets. I thought it might be a good practice to start disassembling some electronics to be more familiar with how real electronics are manufactured and assembled, which is how i found my way to these forums.

When I started researching what tools I might need, I quickly encountered the warning "Some devices can maintain a potentially lethal charge in their capacitors, even up to years after last being powered on", which was enough of a scary thought for me to...

Hello everyone from Italy, I'm here to ask for help on a Vestel TV, I've had a Vestel TV branded "XD" with a broken screen for years, but now I've found a Telefunken (still Vestel but older) and I've mounted the panel on the "XD" TV, it works, but the screen is upside down, given that Vestel does not allow you to rotate the image from the service menu, does anyone know how to solve the problem? the original panel is marked ves315WNDS-2D-N12 while the main board 17mb110, the panel I mounted instead in the tv (from the telefunken) is a ves315WNDA-02. ... It is not worth repairing...

                            by FlailingEngineer
Hi, I was recently given a Bush Smart TV by a friend and the main board seems to be hanging on by a thread.

Before we get to that, my first obstacle was figuring out the model number since the back sticker has gone for a walk. Upon taking off the back case, I noticed the following Vestel parts, 17MB95m mainboard, 17IPS71 (what I'd assume is power supply) and a VES420UNVL-3D-S02 display panel. After doing some research I think the TV I have is a Bush ELED42240FHDCNTD3D, based on the matching image here (https://www.manualslib.com/manual/11...td3d.html#manu...

                            Hi.

I'm posting this here in part as a memo to self as well as to describe the procedure I used in case anyone else found it useful. I found a lot of the necessary information to make this work on this forum and I figured I would give something back. If this is not the appropriate place to post this, I don't mind it being deleted but I hope it can help other people.

I got an admin password locked HP Elitebook 840 G5 recently that I wanted to unlock. I'm a relative newcomer to reprogramming and unlocking firmware. The only previous experience I had was unlocking a BIOS...

Hello I made a post here about an internal flash module I extracted from a Cannon hand held video recorder.
                            https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...l-flash-memory

There doesn't really appear to be a section dedicated to data recovery although I'm sure there are plenty of people here with experience doing such things.
