          Re: RCA 32 lcd tv

          Hi people,
Just letting you hard working people know, troubleshooting is not easy I know. I just spent 3 days on my RCA, first on the PS even though no CAPS looked bad. The voltage may have been low after ware, which might have been a problem, the output caps that is. Deduction dictated that the PS was good. Next came the Mainboard, no bad caps on there either, but then thats not how we test a MB. I removed the MB from the set and placed it in the freezer for 10min... Nothing touchy the Board but cold air!!!

This may require putting flathead screws in the original screw holes from underneath the MB and on an aluminium pan. What happens is the MB may have a bad contact under that chip with a heatsink on top. Considering that airflow behind this product is very limited, the chip may have heated and on power off the soulder may have cracked by cooling. The freezing of the MB, and reinstalling it for a quick test may prove usefull. If it is the case, the TV might turn on with the MB cold, not only will this work once, but the MB will have to be placed in the oven at 400F for 9min. The MB must be mounted on 4 screws so it hovers over a low pan. Let cool after heating for at least 60min. A process called 'cooking'

The soulder on the MB, the whole MB becomes liquid, don't touch until cool... and easy on that over door. All cracked soulder reintactes and connection flow properly again.

Thus my symptoms on my TV where, standby red light on, upon pressing power the led would change blue, and once in a houndred attemps the BackLight would come up and the logics would kick in. Logics meaning, menu items, settings, etc. If the TV didn't come up, logics and all, it would have to be unplugged as the MB logics didn't work, and side buttons and remote wouldn't work either.

Trouble shooting stopped there for me... TV was now good... Next step, remove the planned obsalescence, as to make sure this doesn't happen again.

1 1/2 hole with a drill in the back panel cover just over the heatsink of the MB so as airflow retuns better than normal. This might do the trick, but just for the hell of it I added a 12V small computer heatsink fan, glued to the outside cover.

Have a good time people and remember, Never give up Never surrender!

          Luccio

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
              by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

              Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

              • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
              • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

Looking for help with a Viewsonic VP230mb where the backlight comes on only momentarily
              by lostone
Hello, I came here after finding some similar questions asked on other monitors and hope someone here can help me get an ancient Viewsonic VP230mp (23" 4:3 LCD) back to working condition.

First a little background, I have a background in computer and electrical engineering, and I'm smart enough to know I know nothing about LCD displays and how they work. For this topic I'm as green as they come.
When the display is turned on the viewsonic logo displays in the uppper left for 2 seconds then the screen goes black, the power LED is green (on) and when a computer is connected...

              Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.
