Question for Budm (and everyone else) for fsp212-3f01 Power Supply

    Budm,

    Are these your photos?

And if so, was replacing Q7 and the ZD4 zener successful for you? These
two components were shorted out on my unit.

    This site:

....Also recommends replacing R65 5R1 smd, but this component measured
    good on my board.

Yes, that is my picture, it is the common failure for this power supply. Fixed many of them. It is setup as a linear regulator to supply the VCC for the 5VSTBY.

Hi, Just join the forum, great info. Glad I could found info. for my Viewsonic PS. Already replace the cap. and found (thanks to this thread) that in fact Q7 and the ZD4 are shorted out. I will replace Q7 with a 2N2222a but need confirmation on the Zener, 15V 1/2W zener ?????
      Thanks.

Thank you. Hopefully this should bring back to life the PS.

My old ... Viewsonic now working like a new one. Capacitors and replacement of Q7 and the zener diode solved the problem. Also had a problem with "leaking" color from the screen, (top left), similar to someone dragging their fingers on a fresh coat of paint. Problem also corrected, I guess problem was caused by the defective caps. Many thanks to this forum and specially to Budm, help greatly appreciated.

              hello gentlemen,
came across this thread while trying to finish repairing a fsp212-3f01 psu in a viewsonic n3251w; it has the only partial schematic of the psu that i have been able to find so far. I started with a dead totally dead tv - even after replacing all the visibly exploded electo caps. q7 and the adjacent zener brought the +5vdc portion back to life, giving me a red led on the front which will turn green when pushing the power button. My problem is that now i don't have the +12 and +24. Any thoughts as to where to start?
              Thanks!
