Sanyo DP42647, Sparklies, off colors, occasional ghosting.

I just picked up this 2007 42" Sanyo this morning. Occasionally, the bright areas have dark sparklies, kinda like static, the colors go a little weird and some of the images are slow to go away when a scene changes. It looks a lot like screen burn but it slowly fades. This all seems to come and go. It seems to work a lot better when I try to get a picture.

Does any or all of this sound the the signs of a bad tcon, bad main, or just an old panel? Seriously, I can't get a decent pic of this to save my life. I apologize for the close up but it's the best I could do. This area is not supposed to look like this.

Looks like a bad display to me , you have scoped all of the dc rails i presume.
Always worth doing first with weird picture faults.
T-cons are cheapish usually could be worth swapping it. I would bet t -con or the display either could be the cause .
Could you post a different picture that one you posted does not tell a great deal.

There's not much to see. The pictures all make it look like every thing is fine. The static doesn't show up in pictures for some reason. No, I haven't scoped anything yet. I will, I was just trying to see if anyone thought it sounded like it could be a board. With a 5 year old 720p set, I'm not too keen on buying boards just to test. Eventually, you have as much as or more than the set is worth tied into it.

Just ignore the pic in the first post. It's really crappy and doesn't really show anything.

I would try AV out into another tv and see what the picture is like. Good AV out into another tv proves probably a t-con or display fault.

This one doesn't have AV out, or at least no Video out. I'm working on getting the voltages right now.

I should also add that the menu and the "no signal" box look perfect, even when the issues with the picture are appearing.

Any other thoughts? Does the good menu suggest that the panel is good? From what I've read, it looks like it may be a tcon. I'm going to get a DVI to HDMI adaptor to test the digital video input with my computer.

If the menu is good, it can't be the t-con.

It's really not clear what the problem is. I would need to see the issue to give a judgement on what I think it is...

I might have gotten a descent picture. Here a shot of the tv. The computer monitor does not show the pink tinted areas. In real life, it's almost like the man's hand is glowing pink in some areas. This is via HDMI by the way.

I suspect an incorrect t-con setting, or one of the user controls.

I had that effect before. I just turned down the brightness and contrast. Some software/eeprom corruption occurred which screwed up the high brightness peaks. I know it's not a permanent solution but it worked for me.

Well, I took your advice. With the contrast down all the way and the brightness up high, I get a pretty decent picture. Thanks.

I am having this same problem with this same tv. I was playing a game and in the middle of playing the colors went off. Of course though, my tv also has a bad IR sensor so I'm not able to get into the menu to adjust the brightness or contrast. Anyone know a way around this or where I might be able to find a new IR sensor board to replace the broken one? Perhaps they're related? I know the IR sensor is bad. I went through a number of universal remotes before I bought an OEM remote. None of them have worked. That's pretty much all the info I have. Any help is greatly appreciated.

                                          Hi,
I started posting in a different thread and I was told it was not the best ans the tv model and the fault did not match. I am copping here what I wrote.
After starting the TV it works ok for a few seconds and then starts showing ghost image with horizontal lines intermittently (except the very top). The frequency of the ghosting is steady, like every second or so, it goes from normal to ghosting every second and back.
The TV is a 49XE8096. I already did quite a lot of trouble shooting. And I got the doubt if the problem is in the panel or de Tcon.
                                          When disconnecting...

Philips 32PFL5605H/12 issue with displayed colors

Need help with this unit...looks like the colors are not displayed correctly....not an expert, but looks like something wrong with the GREEN...have attached the photo of the 'home menu' and the recorded video of the Demo video that's on the TV for viewing/testing.

Where should I look for faults? Everything else looks/works ok.

BTW...have upgraded to the latest FW/SW version, but nothing changed....

Samsung LS19A100, slowed down, colors changed, lines not very crisp

In the above mentioned monitor, I removed the plug a few times and this resulted no power.
I opened it, soldered the dc jack and worked again.
But since then colors have changed, too bright (or something like this) and lines, eg letter, are not very crisp as they used to be, they are vague, like faded out.
I checked voltages on the main board, they look ok (according to the service manual. It' attached at the bottom):
                                          IC600 (D9329)
                                          pin 1 (BST) 9.6V
                                          pin 2 (VIN) 13.5V
                                          pin 3 (SW(Switching output)) 4.8V
                                          pin 7 (EN)
                                          pin 8 (SS) 2.6V

                                          IC601...
