Vizio VP503HDTV10A with one vertical line help

    Hello everyone.
I am new to the forum and looking for help with my plasma tv...
The attached picture show that I have a vertical line 1/5 from the right of the screen...
when i play any movie in any mode, the line is always there,,,
when look at close distance, the pixels jumps with lot of colors...
I have heard the people banging on the tv and got it fix... it is not the case for me..
I opened up and tried to reseat all the plex cable still not help...
I noticed that when I remove the associated flex cable that generates the back light to the plasma, the entire block will be dark... but I still can see the line to be darker....
It seems to me that the line was caused by the bad memory or address line which turn off the pixel in that line completely...
My question is if some one can explain to me how the Pixel turn on...? Is the buffer board bad? or the X-sus bad? or the controller bad which did not turn on that pixel line...
    Thanks

Re: Vizio VP503HDTV10A with one vertical line help

This is most likely a bad plasma panel.

Along the bottom of the panel (or sometimes the top) there are a lot of driver chips which control the loading of data into the plasma panel (the plasma panel acts a lot like a memory which can store an image.)

When the x-drivers fail the panel lines get stuck on or off. The driver chips are unfortunately bonded to the panel, and as such, are not replaceable.
Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Vizio VP503HDTV10A with one vertical line help

Thank and I also found my problem.. Unfortunately, it could not be fixed.... The flex cable I was talking about in my previous email has a kink on it and seem to cause the problem... When I flexed the cable, i sometime saw the problem getting worse or better... I later used microscope to inspect the cable, it seems that I really break and does not make the continuity..
I still don't understand why it could have happen for so long until now hic hic and I guess that no one ever can replace the flex ribbon cable going into the panel... (as I googled). hic hic...
      Thanks so much TOM66

Vizio M65Q7-H1 Red Vertical Strips fixed by tape blocking LC1 signal to half of the panel

        Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

        Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

VIZIO M60-C3 Can the vertical line be fixed?
        by tmhobadcap
I am trying to help my friend to fix his Vizio tv with a vertical line on the screen. The line is on the right side. It is blue/purple on the right side starting from the top. But it only goes to about 3/4 of the screen height (not to the bottom of the screen). It is very obvious when the screen is dark and it is hard to be seen when the screen is bright. Please help....

Been a while since I've been here hope all is well. Thank you in advance....

        Kogan - KALED65XU9220STB - Blue Vertical Line
        by TrueSword88
        Hi all.

I have a Kogan 65' LCD Panel with a thin blue vertical line (top to bottom) on left hand side of panel.
The line just happens to coincide with the end of COF and start of the next COF (attached).

The line is permanent no matter what I've tried. I've tried pressure testing the panel (top to bottom) and all over, I didn't notice any difference with the line, either temporary or semi-permanent.

Also tried unplugging all flex cables, cleaned with isopropyl then re-inserting to no avail - line remains.

To fix laptop screen vertical line by working on its EDP cable
        by almarhum
Has one here really gone through fixing laptop screen vertical line(s) by repairing/replacing its Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable, so would recount and share the complete steps of the process here now?

As most, if not all, believe the laptop screen vertical line(s) caused by defective Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable which slipped and passed through either laptop screen hinge but post here is asking help to elaborate definitively the useful, real knowledge of repairing in the most complete, correct way, esp. can decide/determine whether the cable can still be fixed or must be re...
