    Sanyo DP32746 poor audio

I posted about a week ago on this TV but I have a new problem so I thought I would start a new thread with a relevant title.

I received this TV from a friend. She said the TV would not turn on. I plugged it in and sure enough it was unresponsive. I cracked it open and found that one of the 200 volt caps on the power supply was bulging so I ordered the replacement caps and installed them. I also found that on that same circuit path was an unsoldered lead (solder joint was hollow and pin was sitting in the middle). I resoldered that pin and the TV now turns on. However, it has a new problem.

When the TV is first turned on, the audio is loud and clear. After about 10 or 15 seconds something sounding like a fan (although I have not yet been able to locate one in the TV) comes on. When that happens, the audio diminishes slightly and begins to clip/distort. Also, if one of the volume buttons on the side panel of the TV is pressed there is a loud pop that comes through the speakers.

I am unable to locate any other bulging or leaking capacitors and all other solder joints look good. This TV has separate power supply/video/audio boards. I made sure when replacing capacitors to replace them with the same capacitance and voltage ratings and exceeded the ripple current ratings. None of the zener diodes on the power supply measure shorted either.

Another interesting note- I repaired another TV of a different brand a few months ago and the person I got it from said that the first time it died and the power supply board was repaired the audio was very poor. Upon my repairing it for the second time I noticed the same thing. Is there a common part on these power supply boards that would fail alongside the bad caps to cause this audio issue?

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer.

It sounds like you still may have some bad capacitors. Just because they are not bulged or leaking does not mean they are good. I would try to check or replace all of the power supply electrolytics, not just the obviously bad ones.

      Re: Sanyo DP32746 poor audio

Thanks for the reply. Is there a certain section of the power supply board I should be looking at that powers the audio? I have 24V, 13V, 6V and 5V test points just at a first glance. Some other threads I have been reading on other Sanyo TV's with sound issues suggest that the 13V powers the audio. I'd like if possible to narrow it down a bit and take a logical approach rather than a "replace until it is fixed" approach if that makes any sense.

Once again, thank you for responding.

The 13V is for the ClassD power amplifier IC. Does this TV has RCA Audio line out jacks (RED/WHITE). Do you get the distorted sound at the line out also?

          Bud,
I will try that tomorrow and let you know- it does have RCA outputs. I did try HDMI input as well as regular component cables and got the same result from both ports so I know it isn't a specific input port or cable issue. Also, will try to get some pictures of the boards uploaded as well.

If that is the case, both HDMI and the RCA analog line out are bad, that will eliminate the power amp problem as least, which will lead to the audio processor chip or bad DC feeding it.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
              by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

              Assuming...

Help troubleshooting an audio problem with an RCA SGT-250 CED Player
              by samson7point1@yahoo.com
The Problem: This player has a toggle switch to select between Stereo, Mono R, and Mono L. Regardless of the setting it outputs the sound to both the L&R audio jacks. In the Mono R position, the audio output level is normal (from both the L and R audio output jacks), in the Stereo position the audio output is about half the volume, and in Mono L, it's about 3/4 the volume. Something about putting it into Stereo mode is causing the volume to drop significantly and I can't figure it out.

The player processes the audio signal using two different reference frequencies. The "R"...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
              by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

              Audio Linear Power Supply (LPS)
              by Bugmanscj
Hi: Found this forum fumbling over the net looking for replacement capacitors for a high quality 2uv ripple model Kaia, Core Audio Technology LPS. I bought it used on fleabay and figured I would have to recap and sure enough one of the 22,000uf 35V 105c caps is bulging. These supplies were made briefly around 2014 for MAC Mini audio servers, and were quite costly at the time ($1.7k), you know it's audio... I will use it for a video processor power supply to replace a switched version. I figure it's a low cost attempt to see/hear what difference it might make in my system. Plus I get to learn...

Cambridge Audio Stream Magic 6 - Power Supply
              by smurtz
I have here a Cambbridge Audio Stream Magic 6 which does not power on.
When opening the case the PSU appears to be faulty:

IC1 (ICE3BR0665J), D2, the rectifier bridge, C15,C16 are dead and T2 is fried:

I found the schematics of the PSU in the cambridge Audio CXN Service guide which uses the same:
My problem is that I cannot find any info on T2 (SG01323) which seems to be a choke. Anyone knows how I can find a replacement & the value of that choke ?

              Thanks very much in advance...
