    Sanyo DP42545

Hello, I don't know much about TV repair, but I learn fast. My plasma 42" tv started to gradually go black. I don't know the boards names but does anyone know why the tv would do that. It has sound but within a couple of weeks some areas would be black then gradually be normal. Now its totally black. Help?

Well the dimming is usually caused by the Z/X sustain (the right power looking board). The black areas I'm not sure. No picture is caused usually by the Y sustain (left looking power board) though in some cases X sustain has been a culprit of that.

Does the screen seem to have a glow about it although black when on?

Typically only some parts of the plasma panel work when the Z-sustain fails so you can get uneven "blobs" across the picture. Sometimes, a failing Vs voltage can cause a dim picture, too.

        Re: Sanyo DP42545

Hi, I have a Sanyo DP42545. My TV functions ok for a short time, about 20 minutes, until it warms up I guess, and then the picture starts to go crazy. Green blobs, and static, and then after about 1/2 hour the picture is unrecognizable. I was hoping this would make sense to you and you could give me some advise on what part I would need to fix it.
