That is correct but you must complete that connection after the power switch is activated this is to allow the power supply to stabilize before turn on the inverter which draws lots of inrush current.
You must make sure the wire on pin 12 is NOT connected.

Re: Sceptre X32 Power Supply Diagnosis

Long time no reply Budm, I apologize for that, this project got put on the side for awhile, however I just started working on it again.

We left off with me jumping the 5vSTBY on power board to pin 12 BL_ON on inverter board, since this project has been around for a year, I went ahead and bought a used main board, slightly different model, but everthing lines up the same.

Here is what I am currently running into now:

Hit power button, blue light comes on, back light does not.

Unlike before, I am able to turn the tv back off without unplugging it from power, with another push of the power button.

SO... back light not coming on, I went a made a jumper from the 5vSTBY to pin 12 on inverter with a 120 ohms resistor, and the back light did not come on.....

Before the back light would come on temporarily when i hit power button, but then back off, leaving blue light still on in which the power button would not turn tv back off without unplugging... now i get no backlight at all with new main board.

If you would like to pick up where we left off, this is where I am at on the project. Thanks ahead of time

Re: Sceptre X32 Power Supply Diagnosis

Hi, I am new to this forum and I want to comment on this thread. I too have a scepter x32 with the same problem. after disassembling the TV I powered it up with the LCD screen attached and I could see the video so that is working. the backlights (one of them) come on dimly and then fade to nothing in a few seconds. the voltage was 20 but it keeps dropping. I think the problem is in the 24v supply. haven't troubleshot it yet but I will soon. looks like a common problem with this TV. if I come up with a solution it will let you know.

Re: Sceptre X32 Power Supply Diagnosis

Hello, I am new to the forum as well and have a Sceptre X325BV-FMDR which seems to just be a variant of the model in this thread. The unit will turn on and doesn't show a picture but I do have sound. I did the flash light test on the screen and can see an image which seems to confirm the backlights are now working. I have been told on other models there is an investor board to replace, but don't know enough about this model and can seem to find whether there is a separate investor board. Any idea as to what board or part I should replace? I don't know enough about soldering to get into replacing capacitors and would like to avoid that if I can buy just replace the whole component. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
            by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
            by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

            Hitachi Power Supply Unit Interchangeability
            by navagator
I have a Hitachi 57F710E rear projection set with a bad power supply board. I've tried to fix it with help from this forum as well as another one, but without success. Today I found a Hitachi rear projection set for sale on Facebook that looked just like mine. After contacting the seller I found out it was a 51F510. According to the service manuals my set uses a HA01312, POWER UNIT DP4X-DM_24W and the 51F510 uses a HA01313, U901, POWER UNIT DP4X_24W.

Does anyone know if these 2 power supply boards are interchangeable?

            Thanks.

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
            by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

Air-conditioning unit power supply failing to power up
            by Gjackson
Hi all, I managed to narrow down which PCB was causing my Haier AC to throw out an E7 error code (E7 indicates that the indoor unit and outdoor unit cannot communicate). I found that the outdoor unit power board which gives 5v and 15v to the outdoor unit module board fails to fully power up.. The power Led starts to fade in incredibly slowly and the 5v and 15v power buses jump around like crazy and never reach their required voltage. I unplugged the module board from the power board and the power board powered up fine! It had a steady 5v and 15v out and the power LED came on instantly and Bright....
