Re: Sceptre X32 Power Supply Diagnosis
Long time no reply Budm, I apologize for that, this project got put on the side for awhile, however I just started working on it again.
We left off with me jumping the 5vSTBY on power board to pin 12 BL_ON on inverter board, since this project has been around for a year, I went ahead and bought a used main board, slightly different model, but everthing lines up the same.
Here is what I am currently running into now:
Hit power button, blue light comes on, back light does not.

Re: Sceptre X32 Power Supply Diagnosis
do i just hold the resistor in place with hand or is there a technique? the only way i can disconnect that line, is by unplugging the whole connector on main board which has pin 12 and 14 going to it, is that ok?

EDIT: I found the Bl_on, here is what happens:
scenerio 1: if backlight initially comes on, I have 5.2v on BL_on pin, when backlight goes out even though the blue power light is still on, BL_ON drops to 0
scenerio 2: if no backlight, just blue light, BL_ON has 0vRe: Sceptre X32 Power Supply Diagnos...br /> I think...Last edited by urfavtech; 12-12-2014, 10:25 PM.

Re: Sceptre X32 Power Supply Diagnosis
Sorry for the delay, here is some photos of the inverter board and a sticker that was on the metal backing of the LCD screen.
Also i barely seen it, but there was an engraving in the metal backing as below:
20121002N
HV320WXC C01 0
I hope this helps, thats as close as i can get to the inverter board and still keep it all in the picture, let me know if you need any close ups and if that is the correct LCD label, or if I have to remove all that metal backing.
Thanks,...

Re: Sceptre X32 Power Supply Diagnosis
Here is the image of connector from power supply board to inverter.
The 2 leads at the top of the picture go to control board.
The voltage stays steady when on, a few times the back light came on, but then whole tv went off including the power lights, when that happens all voltage is lost so im assuming the tv powered down completely, but when I get it to stay on, the back light is not lit and the blue power light does stay on. When blue light is on the voltage stays steady on power board and inverter.

Re: Sceptre X32 Power Supply Diagnosis
@budm
Hello, working on my 2nd TV now which is also a Sceptre X32 model
Symptoms: Ultimately, blue power light comes on and shows nothing on screen.
Intermittently, blue power light comes on, SCEPTRE logo appears, then
disappears, and blue light goes off.
I read over this thread, and although my tv is same model, my power board ( ay118p-4hf01 ) looks slightly different from the one in Version 7's pictures. Was wondering if it you (budm) or anyone else could point me in the...Last edited by urfavtech; 12-07-2014, 12:30 AM.

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi there, my name is Cory, I am 27, from missouri.
My history with electronics is mainly with computers, I like to build them and fix them. I am self taught on everything I know and so far has paid off.
I currently work as a field technician for Time Warner Cable, although it's not as technical as I would like.
I recently repaired some bad caps on a tv via this forum and decided that the more in depth troubleshooting and repair is my cup of tea. Although I am a complete noob at troubleshooting...
