    Samsung LN46A530 - Bad T-Con Board?

    Good morning,

New member here looking for some help with my 4 year old Sammy LN46a530. I have some experience with TV repair (optical block replacement on KDS-R60XBR2), but LCD's are a new beast to me.

Anyways, over the last couple of days we have started seeing these red vertical lines on the screens as well as red "wavy artifacts" (best way I can think to describe it). These image issues appear on the OSD as well. The distortion and lines usually appear after the TV has been on for about 15 minutes, and sometimes go away after 30-60 minutes.

After some research I am thinking this may be a T-Con issue, but as I said I am no expert. If anyone has any input, it would be much appreciated. I have attached a few pictures to assist in troubleshooting.

    Thank you in advance!
    Brian

Probably a T-Con issue, but first I would try cleaning all connections of LVDS cable(s)/connectors, as there have been some LVDS issues on similar models. If you can move/press on/otherwise manipulate the connectors at both ends, you may see the problem go in and out, if LVDS cable is your issue.

Thanks for the quick reply! What would be the best method of cleaning the LVDS connectors?

I had one of these not to long ago, but it was much worse then yours and it was making a horrible sound too. I had to replace the mainboard.

Eeek...not what I was hoping for! Were the vertical lines and artifacts similar?

I just went back and read your thread - seems like a slightly different set of issues.

I'm going to try to clean the connectors and cables tonight. Hopefully it will work out!

Just wanted to come back and update this - my issue was indeed a loose LVDS cable. The TV has been stable for 2+ weeks now.

Thank you very much for your help! You have to love free/cheap fixes!

                  by Hakuu
                  Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                  Assuming...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
                  by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Upgrading a Samsung ue55nu7096u with logic board from an ue55ru7105k -- good idea?
                  by ohren
I hope this is the right forum to post in despite not technically being a repair, but still a question of swapping boards.

I thought I'd explore the possibility to upgrade an existing working Samsung ue55nu7096u with the logic board (and power board if needed) of a newer model (ue55ru7105k) of the same size and appearance (and resolution). The reason being I'd like the extra inputs of that board including component in, an extra HDMI port and bluetooth. Its panel is broken so I have no use for the board otherwise.

The models launched in 2018 and 2019 respectively....
