Possible Purchase Vizio 50" Plasma needs repair

I have a chance to buy a 50" Plasma Vizio Model P50HDTV20A for $75, will power on but no display or anything, does nothing. wondering if I should go for it, maybe it's a bad voltage regulator on the main board or bulging capacitors?

It's a samsung plasma panel so it could be a sustain board failure.

    $75 isn't too bad...

Are the Sustain Boards easily repairable or does it usually require a replacement board?

If you cant sus it out then you should be able to sell it on for the same price.

        Go for it
Do NOT touch heatsinks when testing for voltages as they may be LIVE!

Usually repairable. Generally two layer, but not too tricky with a good soldering iron - just through hole power semiconductor devices mostly.

Is it generally the same parts that fail on these boards? cheap or expensive parts? Thanks in advance.

On Sammys? You never know which part has failed until you test it - they have too many failures to count.

I decided not to get it, too big and heavy for an old man like me, waiting on a lcd to show up free or cheap on craigslist, I recently repaired a 42" vizio for my son, he found it sitting next to curb someone giving it away, was able to fix it with a new voltage regulator on the main board. Hope to get another one soon.
