I have a Vizio VOJ320FLA, which isn't working properly, and I'd like to repair it. The top half of the screen is blue with a no signal warning, which isn't surprising because there is no signal, but the bottom half is a black screen. Antone have any input?

Re: Vizio VOJ320FLA
When you hook it up to normal video do you get the same half screen issue?
Is the distinction between the halves sudden, or gradual? Does the backlighting change? (check in a dark room if unsure.)
It is likely to be t-con or the LCD panel. It is plausible though it could be the main board. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Vizio VOJ320FLA
Ummmm, it's instant. On the bottom, black half there are some, for lack of a better term, lines cast down vertically from the midpoint. It's almost as if the picture is really trying on the bottom, but it just wont happen. When the bouncing screen saver moves toward the bottom, it disappears into blackness and if I raise the menu, I can only see half of it.Last edited by abakes98; 10-21-2012, 12:56 PM.Comment

Re: Vizio VOJ320FLA
The few vertical lines make me think it might be an LCD panel failure. Did the problem occur immediately or did it get worse slowly? Was the TV hit, or impacted in any way? Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Vizio VOJ320FLA
I believe it was a spill actually. I was thinking it would be better if I never had to say those devil words, but for the greater good, I'll relay what I was told. Also, they aren't lines per se; it was the best description I could give is all.Comment

Re: Vizio VOJ320FLA
You mean it dropped or something spilled on it? I'm assuming you mean it fell?Comment

Re: Vizio VOJ320FLA
Oh.. aha!-haha! I mean some sort of children's liquid was spilled in it. I don't know if it was on when the incident occured, but I know it was plugged in. It didn't work at first at all...until I replaced the fuse, then, when it did...Well, you know.Last edited by abakes98; 10-21-2012, 03:34 PM.Comment

Re: Vizio VOJ320FLA
LCD panels can be damaged by water.
Problem with Sony due to water damage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqcqDQFqZHo
It is important when any electrical device gets water on it for the device to be unplugged as soon as possible, and for the device to be thoroughly dried before it is used.
It may be fixable, but I suspect the LCD panel itself has had damage done to the source driver ICs. These are embedded in the LCD screen, and are generally unreplaceable. It may be possible that some latent water is still stuck inside the screen; if so, cleaning that out -may- fix the problem. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Re: Vizio VOJ320FLA
Though the t-con is more exposed on the top than the panel so who knows.. I think it would be worth opening and looking at the t-con board for "childen liquid" lol.Comment

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

Hi,
I have a VIZIO E70-E3.
Symptoms: Black screen, no picture, but LED backlights are working.
I probed the power board and voltages are as listed on the board.
Main board appears fine, too.
I believe the problem is either a bad T-CON board, or connection to LCD, or bad LCD.
There are two separate ribbon cables feeding the LCD.
If both are connected, the screen is black.
If only the ribbon cable that feeds the right side of the screen (when viewed from the front) is disconnected, the left side of the screen shows picture and... - Loading...
