Toshiba 19W331DB - No HDMI/Sound Problem - Is this worth repairing

Toshiba 19W331DB has intermittent sound problem and HDMI inoperative. T.v will display picture via Freeview. Component (YPbPr)z also works as I've tried it via camcorder.

No Ideas where to start looking on this one, only worked on Samsung so far, but I'm guessing it's to do with the main av board?

It's not a real Toshiba. It's a Vestel TV with the Toshiba badge stuck on it. There's no way a genuine Toshiba would have such poor build quality such as: the wires tangled everwhere, trailing hot glue, and connectors on the middle of the board (instead of around the edges where they SHOULD be.)

So expect poor picture quality and poor reliability. But because of the name many people believe they are decent TVs. Just look at the new 40" Toshiba TVs being sold - for about £50 more than the comparable "Bush" or "Digihome", yet exactly the same Vestel stuff inside. I wonder how long that will last if they keep treading on their name like that.

Suggestion: Press Menu, then 4 7 2 5 on remote. Select Factory Reset. Try sound and HDMI again.

Gone into the service menu but having trouble finding factory reset. Thought it could be within the factory menu but still can't find it?

        Init nvm
Do NOT touch heatsinks when testing for voltages as they may be LIVE!

Thanks, done the reset but had picture for only about 10s and then lost it and sound. Now unable to see picture and sound intermittent?

Try options1 or options2 and check HDMI enabled.

I can't see anything obvious in there which would rectify the problem. So when you reset it, it worked briefly?

Just for a few seconds I had a picture, thought I'd fixed it and then it disappeared. Sound kept coming and going? As mentioned before, works on Freeview o.k.

My suggestion would be to install a new blank eeprom in the eeprom socket, boot the TV up and it should reset everything to defaults, so if there is something that init nvm misses, it will catch it.

Oh and I note the TV is set up for HDMI2 but only has one port? Try turning off HDMI2 and trying it again.

I seem to remember that before I did a reset there was only one HDMI but I may be mistaken? I'll try it again.

                            by hugocarmo
                            Hi.

I´ve been given an old CRT from Panasonic, it´s almost new, it was storaged and almost not used since bought.
It is imaculate inside, almost no dust or debris inside.
The picture is good, but I have no left sound channel, I tried all the inputs, outputs, even on headphone jack. In AV2 I hear sound from right channel but no image, on tv tuner only right sound channel, the same for AV1.
So I started to look for a service manual, I found one, and started from the beginning.
Most of the times the caps are the problem so I orderer all the caps for all boards,...

                            Toshiba 50UL2063DB randomly rebooting with HDMI-CEC and/or HDMI-ARC enabled
                            by spleenharvester
I have this TV hooked up to only an AppleTV 4K and a Creative soundbar. Originally HDMI-CEC and HDMI-ARC wouldn't work at all, I replaced all the HDMI cables with decent UGREEN cables meeting the latest standards, now it all works perfectly but once or twice a day the TV itself reboots while watching a program, the AppleTV keeps running. I haven't fully pinned down whether it is ARC or CEC causing it yet. All are running latest firmware.

I assume it is just HDMI-CEC being buggy as usual on a shitty Vestel machine, but can anyone think of anything I can try before disabling it?

                            Hello Guys,

I received Toshiba Qosmio X755 that has a charging problem and I'm stuck trying to figure out the problem.

                            - When battery is unplugged i works without any problem.
                            - When I plug in the battery after plugging in the charger, it works correctly and the battery is charging.
                            - When I plug in the charger after inserting the battery, it stops working. ( voltage dropped and consumed 8A, reaching the maximum capacity of my bench power supply for 5 seconds, and stop working after )

Can you help me diagnose the problem? I have attached...
