Philips LCD 42" TV Help needed

Hello all, I am new to this forum, and was turned this way from having issues with this dang TV at work. I have read some of the forums and it appears as if alot of these TV's have the same issues, heres the one I am trying to repair.

    Philips 42" LCD M#-42PFL3603D/27, S#-YA1C0815019043
The power board # is 2300KEG031A/F

The tv was shutting itself off after a couple of hours on, (so a friend sent me here cause he had the same issue.) I replaced 6 caps overall, three were buldging and leaking, the other three just cause they were close. So anyways turned on the tv left it on the floor leaning and it worked for about 6 hours. As soon as we put it on the wall to stay it only lasted two hours then starting shutting off all over again.
I took off the back and all caps look good, but it was damn hot. Could it be that it is now just getting to hot?? Or is it something else?? BTW the tv was bought for work and has lasted three years on the same wall as i just took it off of. Its really frustrating to say the least after replacing caps. Any help would be great...Thank you.

What brand and series of capacitors did you use as replacements?

      yes sir,

      2x 35v 2200uf (C236/C235) nichicon
      1x 35v 470uf (C233) nichicon
      1x 50v 680uf (C229) nichicon

I only replaced 4 sorry bout that when I said 6. I bought 6 just in case the other two went south. I have always gone to this electronics supply place when repairing arcade games and tubes so I do trust them and there brands.

Nichicon are good caps but along them there will be a two letter code such as PM, PW, HD, etc. usually with (M) next to it. It codes for the particular series that Nichicon makes. It's possible you've installed non-low ESR caps and the PSU isn't happy.

Ok i'll look real quick also it appears as if one of my solder joints has come loose from the board. One leg of the cap seems to be loose from the hole that it goes through. I am trying to resolder it to the board but it doesnt seem to be working am i doing this wrong?? I'll let ya know about the codes...

Its not bad loose but barely

              All are excellent capacitors.

Time to look elsewhere - try and look for dry or dull solder joints and retouch them. Try tapping on the board with an insulated screwdriver while it is running and see if you can get it to cut out.

Ok I can try that for sure. Did you happen to read above two posts about the one solder joint that was loose, and is there a trick to getting it soldered back good to the board? I'm at work and have to go do something for a bit but I'll be back retouching solder joints after that. Also trying to short it out sortof with the screwdriver.

Cold solder joints are relatively common; all you need to do is apply a little new solder to them and flow them nicely so they are making good contact.

ok i'll try that, I am talkign about the lil metel circle (i think it is) around the hole were you slide the cap leg through. that has come loose so when you slightly move the cap you can see it not making contact with the board. I hope i am describing it right..

Yeah, that's definitely a problem (lifted pad is what it is called) - what you need to do is find a place that cap used to connect to and solder to that instead… Post a picture if you're having difficulty locating one. Everyone rips a pad or two on their first repair, you get better with experience and find you won't have to repair them any more. A dodgy pad connection could be causing your problem.

Thanks, I'll be looking at solder joints all around anyways. So will the solder take to the board hole? if the pad is missing.

No. You'll have to run a jump wire to another point or you can scrape the board to expose the copper and solder to that if you have the room. Post a picture and we can give you better options.

I will for sure but not tonight. I tried all I can while on duty here. I resoldered that pad as best as I can for now, and are trying the TV now. Thanks to everyone so far that has helped. I'll post a pic as soon as I can but for tonight I think i'm done.

Thanks again this is a great forum with loads of advise and threads...

I hope these pix are ok to view. You can see by the last pic what I was talking about. It appears that half of the solder pad is missing for some reason. The one near towards the bottom of the board. Any help on how to repair this would be great. It still stays on for a bit then once again shuts off.

                                          Hello,

I've got a really strange issue with the speakers on my Philips 43PUS7506/12. It makes this awful loud buzzing now. It happened after it was attempted to be wall mounted - I think the back got squeezed and something broke.
I thought maybe the speakers got damaged, so I replaced them - no dice.

Philips 50PUH6400 bad color and gosting / slow motion on one side

                                          Hello Team,

New issue on LCD panel where I need to find out the cause and the potential solution.
This is on the Philips 50PUH6400, the LCD panel is an INNOLUX V500dk2 xrs1.

I have image, on the right side, the image is more or less normal even if there is a small blur on edge, on the left there is an issue.
When moving up and down in the menu on the right the image is slow to disappear, and is darker, like red/brown.

I've checked voltages, no issue found comparing right and left side of the panel driver.
VHG VGL CKV... are the sames on...

Activate power board Philips 40PFH40009/88 tv

                                          Hello partners.

Could someone tell me how to make this Philips TV source work without the mainboard being connected? The model of the board is EAX65423701 (2.1) and the model of the Philips TV is 40PFH40009/88.
The TV is dead, there is no standby light, however there is a voltage of 12v on the pins ( included 12v VAU ) and 3.2v on the PS-ON pin (see photo) when the power board is connected to the main board. If I disconnect both boards I only get 8 volts on 12v pins. I would like to rule out a fault in the main board by making it work, but so far no one has been able to tell...
