    Olevia 242-T11 Start up Issues

I have an Olevia 242-T11 that is close to 3 years old. About a month ago it started coming on with no sound. Sometimes changing sources would bring the sound back, and sometime turning it off and back on would bring sound back. The Aux sound output always works. Well, about a week ago, it started having power up issues. This model has a blue light that is on on standby and off when on. When you would power it up, the blue light stays on. You have to hit the power button multiple times. Usually, when you power up, the light goes off, in a bit you get the Olevia splash screen, then you get the picture. Now the blue light flashes on and off, then you get to the splash screen and that goes off, the blue light comes on, then back to the splash then finally on. Once it is on it stays on. The power thing almost seems like POC tests are failing and it tries again. Sometimes the sound comes back on, after it is powered up and all is normal. So it would seem the main board could be OK and that the issue is with the power supply. Also, when warmed up it powers on fine and the power up is much worse when its cold in the house.

After searching it seems these TVs had lots of similiar problems that are the capacitor issues. Does this sound like it to you? Am I better to just get a new PSU unit for this, or is it a pretty safe bet that if there are swelled capacitors that this can be fixed?

I am an amateur radio operator to have a lot of kit building and troubleshooting skills, but am pretty disabled. Anyone know how difficult it is to get the back cover off? Cn it be taken off standing up or must it be laying down (have not looked at how the stand is attached).

Guess I am just looking for advice. Looks like a new PSU can be had on ebay for about 50 bucks. As always, even though it says new there are no guarantees!!! Plus it looks like one person had to make a wire change. Since it seems like the PSU is somewhat working, it may make sense just to replace the capacitors.

Any opinions. Do you all think there is a fair chance this is a capacitor problem? Thanks.

Had an Olevia 242-S11 power was intermittent then finally dead. Had to replace all 10 bad capacitors on PS board secondary side and TV came back to life.

Any more comments if this sounds like capacitor problems? Plus does anyone know how difficult it is to get the back off? Can it be taken off standing up

It does sound like caps and you will probably see when you do get the back off. It shouldn't be hard at all. The stand question well it just depends on design. Kevin may remember but if you are at doubt put the tv facedown with it being supported by the bezel of the tv

I usuallly lay down a 42" on a table face down on a towel, with the stand hanging off the edge, take the stand off if necessary to get it open. If I remember everything was easy to get to as well as all the bad caps..

            Yamaha RX V675 sound issues
            by jjne
I have an old Yamaha RX V675 receiver which is starting to develop issues with the sound, although it doesn't quite match up with what folk normally report with these.

From cold, the sound cuts in and out. When this happens the amp is losing sync with the optical input (speaker graphic disappears from the front panel). But this is not resolved by putting the unit into pure direct mode. After a couple of minutes this resolves, although there are occasional clicks from the speakers after that.

At first I thought it was either a speaker relay or the DSP, but I don't think...

LG 47LA620V Same LED Failing Back Light Issues
            by jdawg99
            Hi All,

I need some help with this one please. I am attempting a repair on the backlight. TV turns on and flashes the LG logo so stripped it down and found one faulty LED. Replaced it and tested on an LED tester and the strip was good. Put it back onto the PSU and it lasted about 20 seconds before going out again. Same LED had blown. Changed it for another type of SMD one (same voltage) and it seemed fine. Put the TV back together but it was quite dim. Noticed it was in power save mode so turned it off and the screen was bright. Left it on for half an hour only to come back to the...

Asus UX3402 / Q409Z - No sound, no TPM, Boot issues: Bios flash?
            by i19
            Hi
I got an Asus UX3402 / Q409Z and after a BSOD I lost sound, tpm 2.0, and if it turns off it can take HOURS before I can boot again.

Reading here and on reddit I figured its a BIOS issue, and that reflashing it may fix the problem.

I want to use an CH341A (new model with 3.3v) to flash it.

My problem is that I'm not sure if the SOIC8/SOP8 clips will attach to the chip and hold properly? (haven't opened my laptop yet, I'm basing this assumption on a picture from the same thread I attached).

Any tips on how to connect to it? Maybe something...

Lift Master Garage Door wall switch display / motion sensor controller display disappeared no back light
            by sam_sam_sam
This happened last Saturday and today I finally had time this morning before I went to work to replace two non brand capacitors

I will let you be the judge weather or not these are bad or not according to the blue ESR meter that I am using

I am comparing them to a brand new one that I installed

The display came back on and the programming was not lost which I was surprised by I would have thought that when the display went blank that so did the memory as well

I going to let it run for several days before I remount back on the wall next to the...
