You can start by checking the DC voltages on the connectors and comparing them to the legend.

If the rainbow wires are ground then they'll be zero. What does the main board look like?

All those voltages above look like they match the legend including the 0V for GND.

The only one I'm not 100% sure about is the ac-det pin. Tom66 is the expert on how it works there.

AC-DET lets the motherboard know that the TV's plugged in and the power isn't going to cut out any time soon. It looks good to me.

Re: Sony Bravia KDL26L5000 no power

BTW, the only TV I've ever definitively seen an AC detect failure on is the LG 42PC1D plasma. It seems to be related to a bad series of "KA431" chips - the same as a TL431, basically a voltage detector. The fix of disabling it isn't ideal, but it is a simple way to fix it, and the LG TVs work fine with it - it only appears to affect things such as the audio "clicking" when the set turns off.

On some TVs, the AC detect is 50, 60, 100 or 120 Hz square wave signal with a 5V level, so will appear to be about 2.5V. On others, it is a simple HIGH signal, and going LOW indicates a problem.

from your responses then i gather the power board is functioning properly but alas the tv still will not turn on . any suggestions where to look next
                    Thanks for the help

I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on. The indicator flashes red 3 times.
I do not hear any sound and I cannot see any backlight.
I have tried disconnecting every cable on each board one at a time to see if anything changes.
The only change is when I disconnect AC-DET cable on the Power Supply board or on the other end if I unplug the CN7009 connection on the B-Board and try to power on the TV the indicator will stay on solid green until I power off.
My friend ordered another used power supply board but it is also doing the red indicator flash 3 times...

                      by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                      Assuming...

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
                      by PantherDave
                      Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                      Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

SONY Bravia OLED XR-77A80J will not power on
                      by repair-it
SONY XR-77A80J shuts off as soon as it is powered on. It goes into standby ok when plugged in but when power button is pressed, relay clicks and tv powers off. Power supply board makes a sound that sounds like momentary coil whine when it clicks off. The main board appears to turn on and has working optical.

I pulled the power supply board for visual inspection & there wasn't anything obvious. I am not sure how to go about testing this OLED as it is a bit different than the last one (LG) I tried to repair. The only voltage listed on the PSU is 12v for T-CON. The 12v is not present...
