LG 50PQ30 Vertical Red Lines and Residual Image

Ok, so the issue with this plasma set is once initially cut on, you have some foreign artifacts on the screen but everytime the "No Signal" bar moves it leaves a little trail as well as the menu. It gets worse as you leave it on and after about 3-5 minutes, it turns into the picture I have included.

Voltages on the P/S look good but the 15v off the Z-SUS is about 17 if that is of any deal and the -VY voltage was positive. I put the correct leads where it said + and - and for the other voltages is was correct but this was positive.

Tried re-seating connectors in the Y-section but to no improvement.

Read that some had replaced buffers with line issues (but mine seems a bit more severe than those)
One place said Y-SUS, which kinda makes sense due to it warming up and getting worse.
And finally, my initial thought was the controller board perhaps.

Do you have a ESR cap tester if you do I would be checking all of your caps

Well, no offense, but time does not allow me to really check every single cap on this thing. The 17v is standard running voltage (although it says 15v) but still confused about VY.

I might as well take a stab in the dark with the Y-SUS due to the Horizontal line (yes it says vertical in the forum title.....my bad lol)

Ok, I found out -VY will read positive....since all voltages are checking out on the Y SUS should I be weary of Z?

Y and Z sus can't create digital noise. They only make the screen light up.

The only boards that can create such noise are the PDP T-con board, buffer boards, column drivers (non-replaceable - bonded to panel), and main board.

That makes sense for the uniform horizontal red lines I can see that being controller (TCON) or buffers.
How would the column drivers come into play?
The image retention though, do you think that is power related to the sus boards. (Got that from another post that is going on right now)

In a plasma display, the column drivers load the data in from the bottom of the panel. If the column drivers all successively fail (which I admit is very, very unlikely, unless something managed to damage them all at once) then they could load in random data causing the weird lines. The buffers are only responsible for selecting the right line to load new data into (the panel is "programmed" then sustained - the cells which have been programmed ON are made to light up), so if they load the wrong line or at the wrong time, it can cause a similar scrambled picture effect.

However, I notice the panel is mostly red, which would make me suspect the control board more, as the buffers and drivers are rarely selective.

Possibly a bad control board not sending the appropriate erase signal to the panel to make it remove the previous image. All plasma panels are primed (prepare cells to emit light - this is what causes them to glow when set as black), written to, "sustained" (made to light up) and then erased.

So now I think about it more, I suspect the control board, and eliminate my other suggestions.

Alright, thank you for the insight, I will try the controller board and report back.

                    Screen Display Vertical Multicolor Lines
                    by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

Strange LG TV issue : Image vertical lines in black screen
                    by Ancient1
                    Hi

                    Asking for a friend.

I'm used to black vertical line in otherwise good image - probable solution is a rubber to push and tighten the COFs bonding.
but here its the opposite !

TV has new T-con = same issue
A missing panel voltage would have global effect

So , what should one do ? how can I find where the fault is ?

                    Thanks !...

                    Sony KDL-40V3000 - Vertical lines
                    by gpo23
                    Hello,

                    i order a t-con because i had bad colors on my SONY KDL-40V3000 :

With the new t-con the color are good but there are vertical lines on all the screen :

I've tried the old t-con and it returned to the initial issue (bad colors but no vertical lines)

Is there a way to fix the vertical lines on the new t-con ?

                    Thank you for your help

TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?
                    by x_orange90_x
Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

vizio e65 e3 LED tv color vertical lines center tv only
                    by viking509
I recently replaced the led backlights with LB65041 LED Backlight Strips and after putting it back together the backlights work but there are only colored vertical lines only in the center of the tv. I can see the Netflix logo (jumbled) after a minute or less the screen went dark. When I turned it on again the lines were back. Then I replaced the t-con board but the same vertical lines in the picture. My question is what is my next step? Could it be a source tab bond issue? A buffer board issue? Could I have loosened a connection to the panel when replacing the backlights? Should I replace the...
