Re: Sony Bravia KDL-40D3100 - Doesn't Turn On - Standby Light Blinks 8 Times
Yup, still the exact same error.
Also, I just tried disabling pins 5 - 8 on CN4001 (AU_13V and AU_GND), which can be seen on page 34. Just experimenting, it didn't effect the error/behaviour.
I've also noticed on page 25 there's "AU-PROT" on the top right hand side, which is meant to connect to BU board via CN1001? I can't locate the that connector? Am I missing something? Also, sorry if I'm searching totally off track here. Thanks againComment

Unfortunately the "BU" board is "too complicated" for technicians to service. It must be replaced only. What a load of crap! Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-40D3100 - Doesn't Turn On - Standby Light Blinks 8 Times
Wait, does the "BU board" (on page 25) mean the BG1 board? Since I couldn't locate the BU board, I did a google image search for "BU board tv" and nearly all the results seem to be of boards which look like the main BG1 board from this model. In which case where on earth is the CN1001 connector? Is that possibly a typo or from an earlier schematic?
Edit: Yet, it says that the diagram on page 25 is of the BG1 board, and it has the CN2000 connector to the speakers on the diagram, which is correct on my actual board. But I've looked a number of times for the CN1001, and a board stamped with "BU", with no luck. Maybe I'm going blind, haha.Last edited by 386; 08-02-2012, 05:32 AM.Comment

Can we see a picture of inside of your TV - all the guts. I have a feeling the BU board will have video processing on it ("Bravia Engine" or whatever they call it.)Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Unfortunately it's currently night time here, so it was difficult to get enough light for particularly good photos, but here they are anyway:

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-40D3100 - Doesn't Turn On - Standby Light Blinks 8 Times
I'm thinking it's either of the other two green boards. The board in the middle, I suspect that's the 100Hz motion interpolator. The board near the top is possibly the main processor, although it may be the digital tuner.
You can try unplugging the top digital tuner board and seeing if that works.
But other than that, I'm not sure where to go from here, other than suggesting random board swapping. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-40D3100 - Doesn't Turn On - Standby Light Blinks 8 Times
I believe the green board in the top right corner to be the tuner. It's labelled DTAU2MB, and the daughter board sitting on top of it is DTAU_FE. One of the first things I tried was powering up the TV with various boards disconnected, all combinations seemed to leave the 8 blink error. Apart from disconnecting the CN4002 connector (on BG1 board), which resulted in the standby LED giving two blinks, which indicates an issue with the 12v power supply, which makes sense. But, apart from that I've been unable to modify the error/response at all.Comment

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-40D3100 - Doesn't Turn On - Standby Light Blinks 8 Times
The digital tuner appears to be an OEM, non-Sony part. Makes sense that they would order one in for different countries.
With how the TV is currently set up, I'm guessing you can't probe the trace you cut on the bottom? Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Is the part number the number just below where it says BG1 on the previous photo?

I found a similar part but for the UK model. Hence it has SCART etc. It was £24.99. However, no luck with your particular board.
If you can find a TV with a smashed screen, the main board may be cannibalised. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Just below the reply section, click "go advanced", then on the next page you will see the section "Additional Options", in that section click "Manage Attachments", this will open an attachments window, browse for your file, then click the Upload button. It will take a little bit of time to upload, then post normally.
Alternatively, you can upload your file to an external third party website, and just share the link with us. Thanks for any helpComment

by SkishyIshyHey All,
I have a Sony 65x900f that I purchased cheap because of a no-power issue.
I assumed that because there is no standby light visible, it would be an easy fix - however upon opening up of the unit I can confirm that the 3v3 standby voltage is making it's way from the power supply to the main board. I'm a little confused as to why there is no standby light.
I am firstly wondering if anyone has this model of TV, or has worked on one and can give me some insight. I have tried to find a service manual for this model, to no avail - and would really appreciate... -
by androriparaHello everyone,
i am trying to repair a Sony KDL-55HX820 led TV which is throwing error code 4 (standby led flashing four times).
I followed the troubleshooting flowchart at page 69, and between pin1 and pin7 of CN6002 i am reading 1.91V so i guess i can rule out the B Board as the culprit.
Before ordering new G* Boards (by the way, should i change both? it is not specified in the manual) i wanted to try and do more advanced troubleshooting since i've read in other threads people resolving their problems on the 46/55 HX 820/823/825 models by replacing the Samsung led... -
Hello everyone,
I got a Samsung The Frame 55 inch TV for free from uncle cause it is not turning on anymore. I am in the second year of training as an electrician so I have knowledge already but I am far away from to be a pro.
The TV has Standby but ist not turning on. A Friend of mine owns a 50 inch Frame TV so I checked the One Connect Box and the One Connect Cable there. Both are good and working normally. I have opened the TV case and measured some voltages on the Board.
What I already found is that the 12.8V are not an the connector to the main board connector to the power... -

This Sony has a separate AC->DC power adapter supplying 19.5V to the TV power board (JK3)
Disconnected JK3 power board from main board, checked voltages on all the pin outs
At a few pins I can see the power supply providing 19.5V to the main board
Based on the service manual triage.. it seems to be pointing towards the power board (JK3) being the most possible culprit
