    Westinghouse LVM-37wse Repair

I have a Westinghouse LVM-37wse television that went out after the crazy weather here in Ohio. It will power on (logo light on base lights up) by button or remote, but there is no audio or video.

I opened up the television and have found a single blown cap on the power supply board. It is marked as:

On one side: CapXon 1000uf 35v
Other side: KF 105°C C640 VENT

What is the best way to find an equivalent? I have measured the size and it is approximately 13x20mm, but I have never had to spec a replacement capacitor before.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have taken a look at the spec sheet for the CapXon KF series here but it doesn't show a cap with the same specs that I have. I am guessing that this is due to the year it was made? Television is 2008ish vs. the spec sheet from 2011. Would the 1000uf 35v in the spec sheet have the same ripple/impedance as mine even though the size is different?

PCBONEZ explains the relationship regarding size the best, but for your purposes, take the one in the spec sheet as "close enough".

I think this one would work : http://www.digikey.com/product-detai...3126-ND/813860
Disregard the picture, it isn't what the part actually is. I've sometimes also bumped my voltage up to the next level (NEVER THE CAPACITANCE) but you would have to gain size in doing this.

Unsuitable unfortunately... "EB" series is not low ESR. Try this.

            http://www.digikey.com/product-detai...2CT-ND/3072262

            12.5mm x 22mm; should fit.

Correct. Pansonic only makes FC, FM, and FR available to consumers as low ESR capacitors.

The above is out of stock though.

This FR SKU is in stock.

              Or the badcaps.net store

              https://www.badcaps.net/store/produc...roducts_id=170

However, like I said in my standard answer, it is recommended to replace them all since they are Capxon (possibly the worst brand in TVs) unless you have an ESR meter to verify the specs.

Bumping up the voltage is not required if a high quality cap is used in the first place.

I, occasionally, do it because I like to stock only one cap. For example, many times a 1000uF 10V and 1000uF 16V cap will be the same size. So instead of stocking 2 types of caps, I will just stock the 1000uF 16V cap.

Thanks everyone for your help. I went ahead and ordered 6 of the capacitors that retiredcaps recommended to replace all of them on the board. I will let you all know how it went once I get them swapped out.

                      Hello, guys!

I have this Westinghouse 32" LCD TV that turns on, standby led lights up (blue) but no image. If I knock on the screen there's no backlight present. I took the back cover off and injected voltage on the led connector using a Led TV Backlight Tester, and no light at all, so... it must be that there's some bad Leds, right? Or there is some another testing that should I have to do? Any guiding I'll appreciate it very much. Thanks in advance!

I have my Intel PC hooked to my Sony X90L television and each time the power is cycled on the tv, the bottom of the PC screen gets cut-off. Only half of the taskbar shows until i go into display settings and cycle the display size and it'll work fine until the next time I power off the tv. I updated the drivers. The graphics is UHD 630.

Ok, so I know I know, it's a Westinghouse....lol It's got the backlights but no video. Likely the panel, but I'd like to take some measurements on the buffer board with help from you experts to confirm. See the attached pictures. In pic #1, there's a nice pin reference to use to take some measurements. The large IC in pic #7 gets up to 60degC when the TV is on.

So, backlights, no video, go! 🙂...

Westinghouse 32" Smart TV (Model: WD32HBR105) . Originally stuck on logo with no response from remote and no firmware file available to flash via USB. Westinghouse Support stated it would require service but that wasn't a cost effective option. I used dental floss to remove the motherboard processor heatsink to identify what make it was (Mstar). Unfortunately that knowledge didn't help with a solution. After the heatsink removal it only displayed a completely white screen. I then decided to replace the motherboard with a universal 3-in-1 board but the white screen problem continued. This...

Westinghouse TV WD48FAB100 Not Powering On – Burn Mark Found on Power Supply
                      by Seville
                      Hello all!

Westinghouse TV WD48FAB100 Not Powering On – Burn Mark Found on Power Supply .

I have a Westinghouse LED TV, model WD48FAB100 that is not powering on. Upon removing the back cover, I noticed a burn mark where the AC cord connects to the power supply/main board. In this model, there is only one board combining the two functions. Previous owner said the TV experienced a lightening strike, but who knows. I checked the main fuse, tested OK. Here are a collection of readings from the power supply ports. Looking for some guidance on what to test/check next....
