• Re: Vizio M470VSE LED half image

Glad to hear everyone in agreement on the SMD idea. Assuming I test all of them on the bad half and identify it/them, should be able to just replace it correct?

Switched the ribbons from left and right last night only to get the same issue. Doesn't look like the ribbon. I think I'll take the surround off of the panel this weekend and see if I get anywhere by putting pressure on the TABs.

• Vizio M470VSE LED half image

Don't remember where I got this TV but here is what I'm dealing with.

TV powers on and stays on. Responsive to both remote and buttons. It has audio but video is only displayed on half of the screen (see photo). Power board output measures normal.

I initially thought it was the TCON, replaced it but no luck. Exactly the same thinng...LED driver illuminates entire screen, video only on half.

What are the chances the main board is to blame? What about the ribbon or LVDS cables? I haven't done much with LEDs to know what to suspect and try first. I recall...

• Re: LG5270 LCD TV - Lines and designs

Swapped the ribbons and the issue didn't go to the new quarter of screen/board so I've confirmed ribbon is good. Looking at the boards that are tab bonded to the screen I see a lot of green corrosion on the flip up ribbon connectors. Suspecting this may be the issue. Suggestion for how to remove? I tried using eraser and alcohol with qtips without luck. Maybe WD40? If I look for blobs of solder on the SM caps, what will I look for?

Thanks for the advice. I can try to swap ribbons. This was my only thought but didn't want to disassemble entire frame unless absolutely necessary. I will also check out any SM caps while I'm at it.

• Re: LG5270 LCD TV - Lines and designs

I got bored tonight and went back to this TV....

To update on my last post here is what I've found. If all 4 ribbons are plugged into the TCON the screen is black on start up. Removing each ribbon one at a time from left to right on top and left to right on bottom next, replacing after each before moving to the next I have the following picture displayed with backlight on and volume at all times....

CN4 (top left) = black picture
CN5 (top right) = black picture
CN6 (bottom left) = black picture...

• Re: 32LG30-UA with back light, no picture, no sound

Just to help anybody else out. I found the mainboard with EAX42405502(10) and a sticker for AGF37006901 as this TV originally had in it. Bought it off ebay and it worked like a charm. TV set is fixed up now, but still wish LG would release firmware to the public to be downloaded and installed from USB to keep all these boards from going to the trashpiles.

• Re: 32LG30-UA with back light, no picture, no sound

As I looked into replacing the Main of this TV I noticed a few discrepancies.
The board in the TV is marked with printing EAX42405502(10) and has a sticker on it with AGF37006901. The TV panel is V315B1-L07 REV C1

Looking into the parts here are the discrepancies I've found:
- Assuming the board is actually EAS42405502(10), then this should be for a 47LG50 model and not mine. http://www.shopjimmy.com/lg-ebu42600302-main-board.htm

- If the sticker was correct, AGF37006901, it...

It doesn't look like I can move this thread myself, or else I cannot find the means of doing so. If someone with ability can do it for me that'd be great!

• 32LG30-UA with back light, no picture, no sound

Fixing up this TV for a friend.

When I got it the TV would turn on for anywhere from 2-4 sec and go right back off. Never could get it to display picture or produce sound. It had no standby voltage so I replaced the power board. This got the TV to come on and stay on but it has no picture or sound. It clearly has back light and no bad lamps. Doesn't respond to remote or power button to turn it off. I can turn off by holding power on TV for roughly 10s or just unplug. Main board gets a steady 12v and interter is getting 24v.

I'm look to either find a firmware file...

• Re: Sony KDL-32EX340 not powering on

Ok, focusing only on the new board as this seems to have fewest issues.

Budm, what large red circle should have 380V in your picture? I can test but don't want to test wrong spot and short something. Imagine I keep negative on the negative of the big cap still?

Bamm, no resistance on the 12v cap

This is correct. Main cap is a steady 164V.

What can I conclude from this pertaining only to the newest board which doesn't show open with respect to pin 7 of the IC? I'm pretty much stumped and the shop I bought the board from stands by their word of testing the board prior to shipping....

All resistance readings done without power applied to the board.

Where did you get 380VDC from? I measured 164VDC on the main cap.

Both old and new have the same R6301 measurements which are apparently not consistent....

Using my newly purchased board

First black and red = no voltage
Big capacitor = 164V still
Negative big cap to small red circle shows variance from 380v down to open loop and this keep cycling as long as probes connected.
162V from yellow to red across board

Resistances
Blue to red = open
Green to red = 10 mega
Blue to green = 4 mega

The real 7 pin IC
1/8 17mega
2/8 11.5mega
3/8 6.8 mega
4/8 7 mega
5/8 open...

R6301 is approx. 4 MOhm on both boards and no open circuit.

Pin resistance as 7 to x, all registered in MOhm levels. Very similar numbers for both boards.

1 6.6 M
2 6.9 M
3 6.9 M
4 7.19 M
5 7.3 M
6 7.1 M
8 5.1 M
9 5.5 M
10 5.6 M
11 5.7 M
12 28.4 M
13 6.3 M
14 6.4 M
15 6.6 M
16 6.6 M

Hopefully you will find these new pictures of the old board a bit more helpful.
Two lighting conditions just to be sure.

Both new and old boards read 164.7V on the biggest cap (a 450V).

Edit: When connected to main, the old board starts around 300V and slowly drops in voltage as I measure, the one one holds steady at 164.7...

Both new and old boards show anywhere from 50-100mV on the standby pin when all cables except AC in are unplugged.

Attached is a photo with all boards and their connections....

Info has been updated, I'm in USA with 120V.

I have included here both boards for sake of being complete. I would like to only troubleshoot the old board because both new and old are giving me same bogus readings at the pins going to main board. No pin reads over 350mV on either board. I will be returning the junk new one.

Old board:...
