I know this is an old thread but think this is the same
and a lot cheaper
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MP2105DJ-M...item2ec7a10b5c
have also seen some listed that are posted from china for £1.69 posted (pack of two)
some people over in china are selling in packs of 10 for about £4.33
need to search on ebay.com for these

Haha I just saw this thread. Thanks for the help. I'm anxious to get my hot air station it's a xytronic lf-852d. I'm trading my Dynex 32in lcd for it.Comment

Re: Toshiba 32WLT66S - No power (completely dead)
I wouldn't use hot air for such a small IC. I'd take it off with a soldering iron. I only use hot air for QFNs and thermal-pad packages, or very large QFPs.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Toshiba 32WLT66S - No power (completely dead)
You can do that, but it takes far longer than actually soldering it by hand. I can have a row of 10x 0603s done in about a minute. You do need a steady hand though. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Toshiba 32WLT66S - No power (completely dead)
The main problem I have with hot air is it's difficult to get it just right - avoid blowing off other parts for example. It might be my technique but I usually have to cover the board in kapton or tin foil to avoid damaging or removing other parts while trying to take one off.
As far as removing a SOT23 with 5 pins, it would take maybe a couple of seconds; just flood both ends with solder and it'll float on a nice river out of there...Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Toshiba 32WLT66S - No power (completely dead)
But don't they have very small tips for removing the real small components. I would think it would make as15 chips easier to remove and to re solder easier.Comment

Re: Toshiba 32WLT66S - No power (completely dead)
I use a tip about 4mm wide for taking off and putting on SMD chips, including AS15 and the BD9897FS inverter chips. Small tip doesn't really matter, in fact you want a reasonably sized tip to get good thermal transfer. You use wick to clean up any bridges (don't use the shitty radioshack stuff, you'll be there for ages - use something like Chemtronics SODER-WICK, or another good product.) A good soldering iron with high thermal capacity is also key, try to get a nice used Weller, Antex, Metcal, etc. rather than an Aoyue or other cheap stuff. The cheap stuff does have its uses and can work quite well, but you should upgrade as soon as you can.
Since hot air tends to be more damaging to a board, I really only use it when I'm taking off components with thermal pads, or components where you can't get to the leads directly (e.g. QFNs and BGAs, though never done a BGA yet.)Last edited by tom66; 05-24-2014, 11:24 AM.Please do not PM me with questions! Re: Toshiba 32WLT66S - No power (completely dead)
O ok. Yea I think I'm gonna pick this hot air unit up sice the tv I'm giving him I got free. But I might go for the weller I saw on Craigslist. It is digital and brand new with multiple tips. Depending on how much a hakko goes for.Comment

Re: Toshiba 32WLT66S - No power (completely dead)
Hi Tom,
I found this post when I was looking for information on repairing my 32WLT66S - it's given me seven years of good service, but recently it's started only switching on intermittently - now it only turns on around one time out of twenty (after turning off and on at the mains), the rest of the time the lights don't come on at all. I'd like to repair it if possible, as when it does come on the picture is still fine, and it'd be real shame to send it to landfill.
My original plan was to replace the power board with a new one purchased from ebay, and then if that didn't work, the sub power board - but after reading your post, I'm not sure that's the best plan of attack.
I'm a software developer by trade, and I'm comfortable replacing boards and opening electrical appliances up, but not with soldering - although I am keen to learn. My goal is to never buy anything if it can be mended!
I appreciate I'm an irritating newbie with a limited skillset opening up an old thread, but any pointers you could give me would be much appreciated - if the fault is the same as the one you found, would replacing one of the boards inside the TV help? If so which one?
Cheers,
RussellComment

Re: Toshiba 32WLT66S - No power (completely dead)
No worries Russell. I do embedded software myself, but I also work in design engineering for electronics.
In your case, replacing the board with the two HDMI ports on it ought to work. It may be variably called the HDMI board, digital board, scaler board, main board or main A/V board. (However note that there is also a board with the analog video inputs on it such as SCART and component - this may also be called the main A/V board or the main board.)Please do not PM me with questions! Re: Toshiba 32WLT66S - No power (completely dead)
Thanks so much Tom - I'll pick one of those up, and hopefully it'll do the trick!
I code mostly web stuff (Laravel mainly), and a bit of Java for Android, but I'm really excited by home automation - some of the Arduino stuff out there is really interesting (and accessible), so I'm planning to do some experimenting later this year.
Anyway, thanks again!Comment

Re: Toshiba 32WLT66S - No power (completely dead)
Hi Tom,
I just wanted to say thanks again - I picked up a replacement board on eBay and installed it, and the TV is now working like new.
Without your generous help, it would be on its way to the dump by now - your assistance was very much appreciated! Cheers, RussellComment

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by PantherDaveHi all!
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅
I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!
I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

I checked switching power supply brick 19.2 volts multi meter only
No booting without switching power supply connected
Checked switching power supply with an (28 volt ) incandescent light bulb it lights then hooked up the switching power supply again now the laptop and boots like normal
What the heck is going on here...-

by Andreas_deHello!
i got a damaged Manson NTP-5561 (60V, 1,6A DC output) and and the main issue is that the controler IC for the LCD display has a short. The controler IC PIC18F87K90 is mounted on the back of the back of the LCD. Vss-Vdd = 3 Ohm. The 5V and 3,3V power line was killed as well, but that is not a problem. A new LDO 3,3V and 5V 7805 is already ordered.
Replacing the PIC18F87K90 is necessary but that makes no sense without having the HEX dump of the new controler.
Does anybody have such a power supply and could do a HEX dump of the Flash and EEPROM memory?
