    Samsung LN40A630 display question?

    Hi,

There is a Samsung LN40A630 being offered on my local craigslist.
The owner says the display isn't physically damaged but the left side of the picture is normal and the right side "lags" slightly.
Any thoughts on the defect? T-con? Panel? Main Board?
I've never seen this problem and would like some advice before I make an offer.
    Thanks.

    Mike

Maybe a tcon, but could be a panel. T had a sony with a similar problem, lagging with a redish tint and it was the panel. The sony had a samsung panel.

Most likely a panel problem, which may or may not be fixable.

Ribbon cables. Probably you can buy them from Samsung, or from someone who has broken up this TV.

At work, I'll post some when I get home. I was also gonna try a local TV repair shop and see if they have some.

ys0828 1915 is the number on it. i can get some from the netherlands off ebay. but that would cost me almost $30 for one freakin cable

I have an update on this model. Tv was dead with 1 long blink from power LED.
Replaced main board and TV came on normally, but saw tab bond like symptoms as described above, picture would change as screen was flexed.

Relatively easy to get into panel on this one, and put some heat xfer foam on very top left corner bond, front side, snugged down screws and looks good now.

Well LOL I just ordered what you had recommended yesterday

                          http://www.digikey.com/product-searc...ords=BER165-ND

but what I have been using is the rubber pads from scrapped TVs like the big pads under Y-Mains in plasmas. This one appears to be holding up, but I'm taking back a 46" Vizio from a customer that unfortunately did not hold up. I may give it another go with the new thermal pad, but I think in these cases it's more a matter of getting the correct pressure on the right spots and being able to reassemble the TV without it changing, do you agree?

Well I am glad that not just me having good success with the same pad I use, both 52" are still working since last November.
