Re: vizio p50 hdtv20a half screen pic if problem attached
There are 4 buffer chips per board, and 2 boards. since the top 1/4 of the screen shows picture, i'm guessing the top 2 are working, but something with the lower 2 aren't chaining the signal correctly? and since they aren't chaining, they also cause the lower buffer board to malfunction?

Re: vizio p50 hdtv20a half screen pic if problem attached
i have the p50 hdtv20a. one of the buffer chips on the upper buffer board was noticeably burnt out, but i couldn't see anything wrong with the ysus board. i replaced the bad buffer chip, now the tv powers on, but only the top 1/4 of the picture comes on. ideas?

Re: Vizio VP50 HDTV20A no picture no sound
I have the same tv, it turns on, no sound or picture, nothing at all comes on. but there is a bad buffer ic. i haven't seen any burnt chips or bad capacitors anywhere on any of the boards. do you think the buffer IC would cause the tv to turn on but not show anything on screen and no sound?

Re: Sanyo Turns off when sound turned up
It's a lv58063mx the original chip only says v5806. Doesn't give much to go off.

Re: Sanyo Turns off when sound turned up
so i got another chip for the mainboard. it isn't exactly the same one. the original has a ground pad under it, i'm not sure what the significance is of it. but i replaced it with one that doesn't have a ground pad for some reason. and now i get even lower voltage coming out of it from 2.8v to 1.6v

At work, I'll post some when I get home. I was also gonna try a local TV repair shop and see if they have some.

Re: Sanyo DP46840
I got the service manual after I posted. I did the test points and the audio power was supposed to be 13v and it's only 2.8. So I'm guessing it's the lv5806 step down converter. I can't find the actual ic001 audio amplifier chip. Unless it's on the back side of the board. And the same with d1671 to bypass the pfail circuit.

Re: Sanyo DP46840
Hi, I have the dp46840 with the dp46840-00 chassis. The tv I have doesn't click when you plug it in or turn it on. When you turn it on, the green light comes on for about 3 seconds, then turns off. After three tries, it locks down and you have to unplug it. nothing comes on the tv, just black during the 3 seconds. Any ideas? I have a multi meter and am ready for direction. I'm assuming since the transformer didn't click, that there's an issue there. Any takers for helping this noob? :-)

Re: Sanyo Turns off when sound turned up
I did notice that with the ac plugged in, tv off, the 24v rail had 24v on a couple of the negative terminals. I wish I could find a diagram of the main board and ps board that tells what goes to what.

Re: Sanyo Turns off when sound turned up
I have the same tv, except that when i turn mine on, it just shows the sanyo start-up screen, then shuts off again. i'm new to the whole "fixing tvs" scene, but i'm learning quickly. any thoughts on what the problem would be? i'm trying to do it myself to save $100 on what might or might not be the problem.
