Vizio P42HDTV10A Plasma - No sound, picture, or voltages

I have a Vizio P42HDTV10A plasma set that is having some problems.
Before going on, I know there are similar posts to this on here but none exactly matched my problem.

Upon plugging it in, I can hear the relay click about 3 times.
Then upon hitting the power button you hear the relay click on then off with another click after that. The power light is green and can be cut back off and on again.
Tried a new power supply, but same results. Power supply acts the same with all connections disconnected (except for the main A/V board).
Without the main A/V board nothing happens (no clicks).
So I would guess the A/V board would be causing this? Or possibly another bad P/S?
Also, one of the fuses was blown on the Z-SUS board. That was replaced with no difference in result.
The only other thing is that possibly the secondary P/S is messing with the A/V board? All voltages looked good for that board and voltages to cut on the P/S were about 3v.

I've seen this caused by a bad ac detect, but that was on a bad PSU... Still, check the ACD pin on your PSU. It should stay at 5V dead.

"Also, one of the fuses was blown on the Z-SUS board. That was replaced with no difference in result." are you replaced new fuse or replaced new Z-SUS board?
I had Vizio P42HDTV10A same problem, find out Z-SUS board is bad, Mainboard tell Power Supply board to turn on ( you can hear click is relay turn on & off) but not pass testing and shut the TV off
        Here the replace board

Re: Vizio P42HDTV10A Plasma - No sound, picture, or voltages

hoadle, I have replaced the fuse within the Z-SUS board.
Luckily I am working on another tv, an LG plasma (42PC3D), and since both tv's are based off of an LG panel I believe both Z-SUS boards can be swopped.
The Z-SUS was bad on the LG (by cutting on for about 10 min and seeing which board was warm or not (for there was no picture but sound)) so I am going to see if it is bad for the Vizio as well.

And tom66, I will definitely check that as well.

Thanks for the replies and I will definitely get back with my findings.

Please check the parts # on both board if same you can swopped, if not you will blowed some thing

Re: Vizio P42HDTV10A Plasma - No sound, picture, or voltages

The part numbers are different but shopjimmy offers both to be interchangeable.
Yes, I normally too would not do this, but I felt there was enough reason for it so I tried it.
So the LG PSU relays clicked on and off just like the Vizio, so faulty Z-SUS for both.

I looked at the ACD pin and nothing connects to it nor is there a voltage showing on the meter but when ACD and RLY ON is connected together the relay clicks on.

I guess I'll know more once the Z-SUS boards come in.

                ACD to GND? (Case?)

It should measure 5V if it is good. On mine it was dropping between 5V and 0V randomly.

ACD does show a voltage (4.4v)....ya that was bugging me why it tripped w/o a voltage lol. Had a bad ground, sorry

Ok, so although board has not come in yet, I have unhooked everything but the main board (and little sub power supply since that is what give that power) and am still having power issues or relay issues lol. But when I jumper the ACD and RLYON pin together it double clicked and when I let off, it clicked again like I would figure it should.

So main A/V board and Z sus (since it had no luck in the LG plasma)?

what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
                      by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                      by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                      Assuming...

Missing LCD Panel Voltages VGH, VGL, VCOM (TCL 55P6US Sound & Backlight but NO Picture)
                      by maneatingmonkey
I have a TCL 55P6US with sound and backlight but no picture. This model does not have a T-CON board, and the right (rear perspective) panel board is fed from the left panel board. I have not been able to induce any change by disconnecting the secondary panel board or the tape cut-off method on the primary board.

There are a bunch of voltages missing on the panel boards. I can't find any shorted caps of the panel boards, and all of the missing voltage rails read in the kiloohms, which leads me to suspect the issue may lie on the circuit board, rather than a short in the panel.

Vizio M65-E0 No Picture, No Sound
                      by ggil44
Hi I inherited a Vizio M65-E0 that isn't working. It must have been dropped on the corner because I found that the infrared circuit had a capacitor with one end broken off of the board and some green corrosion around the plug to the main board. I re-soldered the capacitor and cleaned the corrosion well and tried turning the M65-E0 on and I was successful. My problem is that while the back lights come on and appear to perform local dimming there is no picture or sound. It kind of looks like you are looking at the TV through a very dense fog, where changing the input on the remote will change bright...

Vizio P65-E1 No Activities - Voltages oK
                      by jason123
                      Hello guys,
I'm thinking it's bad main board, but I'd love any thoughts or things to try - the board is a couple hundred $$$ and I'd like to be sure before replacing.

So I got this TV dead - no standby LED or screen activity or backlight.

Voltages to main board are on (not sure what the level should be, but here is the connector's (PS CN9102) voltages:
                      PS_ON: 4.91V
                      +VA = 18.79 V
                      +VM = 18.82 V

I spot check voltages on the LED Controller board, and all the large upper inductors have about 9.4V on one or the other side....
