HP PL5060N Plasma cycling inputs randomly

    Hello all,

I have an HP PL5060N 50 inch plasma TV that seems to cycle through it's inputs at random times, always after running for an amount of time. I've read that this could be due to the main board heating up, but there doesn't seem to be a clear cut "solution"

Just wanted to see if I could get any opinions from any of the guys on this forum who have a lot of experience in fixing sets.

Is there a "fix" for this or is it just best to go ahead and replace the board?

    Thanks all!

It might be the button board - the board which has the volume/input/power etc. buttons on it.

You will need to disassemble the TV and unplug the button board. If that fixes it, try using some contact cleaner on the buttons...

thanks a lot for the tip tom. i'll be sure to try this when I get the TV opened up. everything should function save the buttons if I remove this board correct? I have a remote to control the TV with.

In most cases. Some* manufacturers put the IR receiver on the button board, so you wouldn't be able to just unplug it if you want to control the TV with just the remote. The contact cleaner worked a treat for my LCD TV though.

*Samsung and LG do on some of their TVs.
