Re: Vizio VF551XVT possible tab bond failure
Thanks for the help guys.
One of the connections was definitely loose. I could see the picture changing while I jiggled the one ribbon around, and then the cable just fell out! So i flipped up the tab, firmly reseated it, and voila, working TV. Haven't had the opportunity to give it a proper test run, I'll get to that this weekend

Re: Vizio VF551XVT possible tab bond failure
Alright, I think I've located the problem here
It's the 2 ribbon cables in the picture. Jiggle them around and the picture changes, get it just right and the picture is how it should be
Forgive me, I'm sort of new at repairing TV's. I've only done 4 sets and each time, the mainboard was bad!
Are these ribbon cables the LVDS cables? Whats the best way to unseat them, so i can clean and re-seat them? Or are those the cables that lead to the tab bonds on the panel?
Thanks!...

Vizio VF551XVT possible tab bond failure
Hello all, i'm trying to troubleshoot a Vizio VF551XVT LED set.
The problem with the set is the right half of the screen is pixelated green and yellow. I can make it go away by gently tapping the side, putting a small amount of pressure, or moving it around slightly on the stand.
Pictures are attached.
I'm thinking it's probably a tab bond failure, but I wanted to get opinions? possible LVDS cable? T-Con?...

HP PL5060N Plasma cycling inputs randomly
Hello all,
I have an HP PL5060N 50 inch plasma TV that seems to cycle through it's inputs at random times, always after running for an amount of time. I've read that this could be due to the main board heating up, but there doesn't seem to be a clear cut "solution"
Just wanted to see if I could get any opinions from any of the guys on this forum who have a lot of experience in fixing sets.
Is there a "fix" for this or is it just best to go ahead and replace the board?

Re: Vizio M470NV LED LCD Help Needed!
well. the tv is still working sporadically. it will run for awhile and then the backlight will just go out. I've been able to get it to come back so far by turning the tv off and on a few times but it seems to be going out again faster and faster.
does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? the inverter is built into the psu board on this tv correct? could it be a loose cable somewhere possibly?
I was wanting to keep this set for myself :-(

Re: Vizio M470NV LED LCD Help Needed!
soooo....the backlight on my tv just went out. had my xbox 360 running, went upstairs to get something real quick, come back down, backlight off. tried resetting and such, no luck. just boots up to the vizio screen and the backlight wont come back on
*sigh*
and not 3 seconds later after letting the TV run for about 2 minutes, i turn it off and turn it back on and it comes back. what possible explanations could there even be for this behavior?

Re: Vizio M470NV LED LCD Help Needed!
got the tv back together and onto my tv stand in my living room. It still blinks when i first plug it in, but then it settles to amber, and i power it on with the remote, and voila! backlight on, TV working.
this is the first TV I have attempted to fix, i'm learning as I go. I did not know that the only thing wrong with the original PS was a fuse before I bought the new PS. I knew it had a bad fuse, but I wasn't sure that was all, so I went ahead and bought a PS off of Ebay. It was just out of desperation that I decided to take...

Re: Vizio M470NV LED LCD Help Needed!
the most incredible thing just happened.....
so i left the tv on with no backlight for awhile after it went to the v-logo and backlight went dim. vizio logo stayed illuminated white as it usually does. Turned off TV with remote and turned back on.
POW, vizio logo, BACKLIGHT ON. everything seems to be working
just turned it off and back on. BACKLIGHT ON AGAIN. lol
aaaaaaaand now im scared to touch anything. lol

Re: Vizio M470NV LED LCD Help Needed!
alright, so I tried a new power supply tonight, to be exact, i took a fuse off one that i bought on ebay and soldered it onto the original psu that had blown a fuse. Now the backlight comes on for 2 seconds and shows the vizio logo and then flicks off. With the other psu, the vizio logo never came up.
I can still see the image if i hold a flashlight to the screen.
I know in your post you said you had the same thing and it ended up being the LEDs. I just found it curious that with this PSU the vizio logo now comes...

Re: Vizio M470NV LED LCD Help Needed!
how do you get at the leds to change them? do i need to remove all the boards and take that metal chassis off and get the actual screen out?
also, would the replacement LEDs need to be the exact same model #?

Problems with Vizio M470NV LED TV
Hi all. I have a 47 inch vizio LED LCD TV model # m470nv. I've already replaced the power supply, which was bad when I got the TV. Replacing this gave the TV power, but nothing else. Next I replaced the main board. The vizio logo in the front now goes from amber to white, and can be controlled by the remote control now. If i shine a light onto the screen, I can faintly see the image that should be on the screen.
The only other board left to replace is the T-CON board. What exactly would this board do? Could it be the problem? I'm kinda new to all this, just wondering if anyone...
