    samsung lnt4071fx/aaa ghosting

Can you all look at the attached pics and see if you can figure out what is going on? I thought i had it fixed with just a loose ribbon cable because it worked for about a week then it started doing the ghosting again. Possibly the T-con board ??

I had seen this symptom in SONY with bad T-CON board:

Worst case will be the LCD panel itself.

Well I tried unplugging the cables that go from the tcon board to the other logic board and plugged them back in one more time while the tv was on. Have done this a bunch of times to make sure they were seated good. Of course the screen went blank and when i plugged them in i just got a blue screen with some lines at the top. turned it off and back on perfect picture and has been that way for about an hour now.

I have ohmed out the cables all the individual pins and all tested fine. Still sound like a T-com board?

You shouldn't unplug and replug it with the set on. That might damage something.

But yeah.. if it's fine after that, the T-Con or the cables (dirty/corroded contacts?) are the main suspects

Ok replaced the T-conn board and the logic board to the right of it that the LVDM cables plug into. Still same problem. Could it be a power supply problem as it comes and goes? I dont think its the tab bonding problem as I have an sanyo tv with that problem. Any ideas? Any test points on the power supply to double check voltages? All the caps look great no bulging.

              Re: samsung lnt4071fx/aaa ghosting

I've never had a problem reseating the LVDS cable while in operation. OP, if you press down on it at a certain position does the picture clear up? There's probably a cold joint on the connector somewhere.

Bad tabs could be causing the problem you have. I have never encountered it myself but I have read of cases where it was part of symptoms showing on screen, usually accompanied by obvious single line/lines across the panel giving away a tab defect. If the front bezel is easy enough to get off I would check them just so you can rule it out. You could also try freeze spray around the edges of the front of the panel or get a hair dryer with the back off and heat up the steel chassis around the edges.

I used the hair dryer trick just the other day (used to use it on xbox 360s all the time) on a Philips 32PFL5522D. Showed me within 5-10 mins that it was indeed bad tabs.

If you haven't already done so, replace the LVDS cable. It is difficult to accurately detect an intermittent LVDS cable using normal checks. LVDS cables are a common cause of symptoms like this.

Anyone have a part # for both of the cables? The numbers that are on the cables are not coming back with anything. THanks

Can you provide the version number? It will be on a little sticker, probably on the left side of the rear cover, as viewed FROM THE REAR.

It will be something like SQ01, SS02, SS03, etc.

Thanks for the part #'s that will make life alot easier. any idea which ones are the 2 that run to the T-con board and the short one between the main board and the logic control board above the main board?
                            Thanks again!!!

I believe LVDS1 and LVDS2 are for the TCon, and LVDS3 goes from the main to the FRC (Frame Rate Converter) board, which is what you are calling a logic board.

Well it ended up being a bad tab on the upper left side of the panel. Fixed it with some foam insulation
