    Re: Crosley LCD TV

Crosley is a name that goes WAY back in the consumer electronics field.

We treat these the same way we treat other, more common names with no literature available. First, remove the back of the TV. Take a single, sharp, well lit picture of the back of the TV. The picture should be close to, but not over 2000 pixels x 2000 pixels. This will help us identify the subassemblies, possibly spot any problems, and direct you to take additional pictures.

Weird behavior on 3.3V rail of a CORSAIR CX600
      by bimole
      Hi,

A colleague gave me an apparently ill CORSAIR CX600.
He told me that he heard a banging noise, and smelt the magic smoke.
After tearing down the PSU, no burnt component, everything seems OK, but the PSU often refuses to stay ON. When shorting PS_ON to GND, the fan spins a bit a finally stops. No output voltages.

I tried to treat some apparently bad solder joins and finally it seems to work OK... on the 12V and 5V rails!
It's another story on the 3.3V rail...

I have some devices to test deeply PSUs (scope, AC source, electronic load)...

No display, Eluktro Pro (Clevo) P650HP6, board number 6-71-P65P0-D02A
      by MicroSMD Lab
This laptop came in as no internal display. I did see it boot on an external monitor but it was not consistent, however, the bios splash screen was consistent. The customer said it happened after a windows update. I tested the display and there were no signals on the LED_EN or PWM test points. At this point I decided to treat it as a bios issue. I disconnected the RTC battery and drained the residual power. After this, I did not get the bios splash screen anymore. The power led changes colour, fans spin, GPU and CPU get warm and caps lock is functional. I tried the bios from the Clevo repo, there...

Upgrading a Samsung ue55nu7096u with logic board from an ue55ru7105k -- good idea?
      by ohren
I hope this is the right forum to post in despite not technically being a repair, but still a question of swapping boards.

I thought I'd explore the possibility to upgrade an existing working Samsung ue55nu7096u with the logic board (and power board if needed) of a newer model (ue55ru7105k) of the same size and appearance (and resolution). The reason being I'd like the extra inputs of that board including component in, an extra HDMI port and bluetooth. Its panel is broken so I have no use for the board otherwise.

The models launched in 2018 and 2019 respectively....

Removing coke or sugar syrup from liquid damaged devices.
      by rotceh_dnih
Got an Xbox that had coke spilt in it, must not have been there long but it was sticky and my normal solvents were not making it budge so on a time budget I hit it with some Ajax spray and wipe glass cleaner and it brushed off within 20 seconds.

Whatever's in that bottle is some nasty stuff but it worked a treat!

P.S. I gave it ISO bath, ultrasonic then ISO bath again after these photos as I thought if it cleans up that well so fast it would very likely corrode if anything was left on the PCB....
