    Dell w2600

Why can I ever get one that's an easy fix?

Anyway I hear this has a common problem with the BGA so I wanna try to reflow the board in my oven.

I wouldn't even be posting but it has a lot of caps on it, do you think they would survive the heat in the oven for a short time?

How do I even identify the BGA? I can't find a manual.

BGA is just a type of chip, not which one it is specifically. Probably northbridge and/or GPU chip. Look up the cap datasheets, they should specify a temperature and # seconds. Don't exceed that. If any are electrolytic, no I don't think they will survive high enough/long enough temperature to reflow a BGA chip.

What you really need is a hot air station not an oven to work on a populated mainboard... BUT, I have also heard of others reviving a board in the oven so good luck!

Do you think an ol' cheap heatgun would work or do I really need a fancy hot air station?

        Re: Dell w2600

This seems to be quite common with some users on this forum. The thing is, unlike the Xbox 360 and PS3, the main chips on these don't get that hot. They might have a small heatsink on them but that's all. And reflowing in the oven only fixes them maybe 40-50% of the time, but good luck.

The caps will survive a high temperature temporarily, it will usually be specified in the datasheet (for wave soldering.)

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
          by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

SEF 551.10 - Error starting the reflow oven.
          by bpjl
          Hello,

When starting the SEF 551.10 reflow oven, the following problem occurs:

It seems to me that this is related to corrupted software. Does anyone have files that can fix this device? Or maybe someone uses such an oven and is able to make a sector copy of the memory card located in the computer controlling this oven?

PS.: Of course, appropriate emails for help have been sent to the manufacturer and distributor in my country. No response yet, but I don't expect much. It's a fairly old device and from what I know, it's no longer...

Dell Latitude 5420 does not start (no post) need help to find the reason why
          by F R 2568
          Hello all,

this is my first post, so if I make mistakes please do not hesitate to point them out, thank you in advance.

I got a Dell Latitude 5420 (Service Tag: 7RFM6D3, Motherboard: GDF40 LA-491P Rev.: 2.0 (A01)) which does not start and I want to repair it. These are the symptoms:

If the laptop is only connected to the AC adapter (battery removed):

When I press the power button, the keyboard backlight and the display backlight are turning on. Caps key light is lightning, but key does not respond to pressing it.

          The power/battery...

          Looking for Dell Latitude 5520 / 5530 / 5540 RJ45 network connector replacement
          by diamon
I have a Dell Latitude 5530 with a damaged RJ45 network connector. See the attached pictures.

Have already searched on Farnell / Aliexpress / Ebay and had contact with several suppliers on Aliexpress and Ebay, but they cannot deliver this connector.
Is there someone inside the EU, who has these connector(s) or perhaps defective motherboard(s) for these laptop models I have mentioned in the topic title.

Dell G5 SE 5505 - "Invalid memory installed" after BIOS update.
          by lalle-
          Hello!

I have a problem with a Dell G5 SE 5505 laptop that I hope someone can give me a few pointers on.
[OK, it's not really a laptop, I'm running the motherboard on my desktop with only cooling, RAM and an M2 drive attached.]
I had some performance issues, so I decided to update my BIOS from 1.7.0 to the latest version, 1.20.0.
The computer restarted and the update dit not want to continue without a battery connected, even though I used dell's method of bypassing this requirement.
I tried updating to a custom BIOS from Reddit user Satori_Nori https://www...
