Re: Sharp lc-42sb45u no response... at all.
Can't make a new thread, but I have this TV and when it is first turned on there is a solarization effect on 1 quarter or so of the right side of the TV.
It eventually goes away (and there is a perfect picture) if the TV is left on long enough. I haven't cracked open the TV yet (to check the boards), but in reading about this it seems like a TCON problem.
Opinions?

Repaired another one, with the blown 1.5A fuse on the inverter board.Leave a comment:

@Caleb, Thanks for the info. Ordered through digikey. Hopefully this will take care of it.Leave a comment:

@lastleg, -this is a dead thread- you would better off starting a new thread....that said you can be pretty certain that if it says capXcon on it, it needs replacing. The residue coming out the top is the electrolytic that makes the cap work, Ie if the stuff inside is outside that cap is not doing its job. Replace with panasonic fm or nichinon from a reliable source (digikey or mouser) hopefully just the one failure is causing your problem, but there could be more that look ok that are bad as well.Leave a comment:

Re: Sharp lc-42sb45u no response... at all.
I'm having a similar problem with my Sharp lc-42sb45u. It would come on after a few minutes, or hours, but now has gotten worse. I just opened it up to have a look inside and noticed the capicitor on the bottom right of the power board on this picture:
http://nadams.smugmug.com/Other/Shar...Hv4c&lb=1&s=X2
on mine has opened on top with some yellow-ish residue on it. I suspect this is the culprit that needs replacing but wanted to ask for advice first. The capacitor is labelled CapXon 2700uF16V. Any help would be great. Thanks.Leave a comment:

three, but on one I have removed the secondary heat sink, managed to brake some legs off of those diodes mounted to it, but I can add some wires and I can re solder it. I will do it and see how is that one too.Leave a comment:

Re: Sharp lc-42sb45u no response... at all.
they are pretty cool tools. I can bring it with me in the bad using the laptop and I can work while I'm resting too. That's how I found the little fuse today, while my daughter was sleeping next to me(the only way she will sleep, soon she will be four).
I don't think that there are big differences between these microscopes. I went with this because it was 2megapixel, had great reviews and wasn't that much money.
I actually looked for a real telescope too, but they are really expensive, triscope, stereo+camera. Maybe a bit later and must be a used one. I really need something because my eyes are not what they used to be. I'm 45, so is kind of expected.
Budm, now I'm ready again to try to fix that Vizio power supply.
I would appreciate your help with this one (too).
I think that we agreed to go with the one that supplies some voltage at the output.
Do you think that I should recap that power supply?Leave a comment:

TV it's working!!! Thank you budm. I owe you a beer.
I can't find that size on Digikey, .125x.060. But I have used one like the other white one, just added some copper wire legs to it.
Bummer is that I can't find that black plastic cover for the inverter.Leave a comment:

I use Littlefuse PICO fuse.
Thanks for the link for the scope. I may get one.Leave a comment:

Re: Sharp lc-42sb45u no response... at all.
I may have some 1.5A LittleFuse fuses, it should be OK?

The only negative that I can say is that the LEDs are on while the PC is on, but you can use it to make light on the boards.Leave a comment:

Re: Sharp lc-42sb45u no response... at all.
That is 1.5A fuse. CMO and DARFON use this kind of fuse for the Inverter IC. You can use fusible resistor, 1 Ohm in its place to test it.
Do you have info on this USB Micro scope? It is strange that the board shows it as 0.75A 76V fuseLast edited by budm; 04-19-2012, 08:59 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Sharp lc-42sb45u no response... at all.
Found it and it's bad. Thank you. It looks like it's a 15A fuse. This fuse is a regular SMD fuse or it is a special one?
Thank you budm!
Side note, I have sold that Sony that I have cracked the screen for $80 (what it cost me too, $50 TV+$25 Tube+$5 gas).
Picture taken with the little Celestron USB microscope, wasn't pointing straitght at it, that's why is not clear at the top.Last edited by tibimakai; 04-19-2012, 08:39 PM.Leave a comment:

The picture I post is just an example of what the fuse looks like. So do have the Black fuse on your board?Leave a comment:

Re: Sharp lc-42sb45u no response... at all.
For now. If I am correct, there is a small black fuse F1 (look like surface mount resistor next to the white fuse F3 on your board) for the Inverter IC. It should be closed to one of the connectors. I am not sure if you see that or not. See picture for example.Last edited by budm; 04-19-2012, 12:49 AM.Leave a comment:

by advantThis thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.
I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match... -
by sefosterI have a Sharp Aquos LC-80LE757U that randomly made a loud popping noise when when watching TV one day. We found that the fuse blew and the thermistor. We ended up replacing the entire power supply board and have also replaced the TCON board. Now as soon as I plug the TV in it lights up and has the Sharp logo flashing on and off of the screen. If I unplug the ribbon cable from the TCON board to the main board I get the 2 long 5 short error code. Any ideas on where to go from here? We've tried resetting it but nothing has worked. If we plug it in and let it cycle through the flashing of the Sharp...

by gavenbHi folks!
I have a LC-80LE661U that had some interesting issues.
Initially, it would come on and show the sharp logo and would show normal static before shutting off.
I started troubleshooting by disconnecting the led lighting strips and turning it on. It would do the same thing - come on, show the sharp logo and shut off. After reading, it was suggested to replace the main board. That was replaced and the same symptoms resulted. After this and some reading, the parts cannon got loaded up. I replaced the power board, same issue. Replaced the Tcon board and now it... -
Hello, I'm new to this forum. I like to tinker with Sony electronics, I have been lucky trouble shooting sony stuff, But I can't find much info on this Sharp TV.
The problem; plug to power>white led power indicator light is on>it turns on to the red Sharp logo>
then the android logo is displayed, lit fine then the android logo brightness varies, then lit normal, then the tv restarts and does the same startup logos over and over for 5 times then it turns off and the power indicator light flashes the trouble code 3 long blinks plus 3 short blinks .

by Superbee_dadHello Sharp TV experts
Our Sharp LC-80LE642U displays one short one long flash error code which is a backlight error. I went into service mode and there were 8 lamp error counts recorded. I reset the count to 0 and did a reset. The last monitor error cause was 16 B00014639:12. 16 is the code for backlight error. I tried to power the tv up but went back into error mode.
