It contains silver (70% by weight)

Guess I should wait for the silicone compound.

You could mount one device and test if it is conductive.

I also thought that artic silver was conductive. But I used silicone paste ,on the IPM`s ,that I replaced.
Silicone is not conductive ,so it won`t matter ,if you have some of the paste ,touching the leads.

Don't know what I was thinking when I ordered silicone grease
It was only after I opened the tube I realised my stupid mistake.

Went ahead and put the PSU back together without the compound to test. Works well, good picture on one analogue channel, but can't retune it for my local area due to requiring a remote (need to press green to begin the channel scan - this button isn't on the side panel)

Just ordered _real_ heatsink compound should be here Tuesday, hopefully the remote will be here then too.

Bumped into a friend while out today who has a 32" LCD for me to look at for him, not sure what make yet though. Will start a new thread when I get it tomorrow.

Great to hear you fixed it. How's the picture quality? Better than any good LCD TV or just "okay"? If JVC cut corners on capacitors, hopefully they did something nice with video processing.

Not entirely sure, the channel that happened to be tuned in is a channel from another region so the signal is a little on the low side. What I meant by a good picture is that there is no sign of any issues with the panel.

Will post a report on just how good when the compound and remote arrive.

Re: JVC LT-32A61SJ Stuck in standby

Heatsink compound arrived today, so stripped the PSU again and got it applied to the relevant devices.

Reassembled and working nicely. Found a universal remote in the cupboard, so didn't bother ordering a replacement.

Pic is pretty good, difficult to say just how good as I don't have a HD source in the workshop (not to mention I just realised I need a DVI -> HDMI adaptor for this TV!)
Will bring it in at the weekend and connect it to a HD source for a few hours to test properly.

Seasonic B12 BC-550 – barely 2 years old and with BAD CAPS already!

I know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.

For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

                  Hello

I have an TV Led 4K Selecline 65s18 with mainboard T.MS3458.U801

The TV is faulty with stuck in Standby RED LED. Can't power the TV.

Before this problem , the TV stuck the picture with artefact , i unplug the AC cable and since the tv is stuck in standby .

All voltage are OK on PSU and main board for regulator. I tried flash firmware 25Q64 with many dumps

But the voltage on power button is 0.6V not 3.3V. When i press power button the voltage up to 0V. I tried to add 5V with Power Supply on 5V_STB and 3.3V on Power...

I enclose the psu diagram, after the first routine checks I find myself with a regular standby voltage of 3.3v blue light on steady when the power button is pressed nothing happens, psu disassembled and bench checked ... forced ignition by sending a signal 3 , 3v on the SW and PWM2 pins the psu turns on and delivers all the voltages...

LG 32LB1R - stuck in standby mode
                  by lego1234567
Hi. I have the following problem with my TV. After connecting to mains, the standby led (red) turns on, but TV is not responding to remote control or buttons on TV. After some measurements, I found out that +5 V standby voltage is present, but I dont have ON/OFF signal coming in to turn PSU on. It stays at zero volts. After looking at the schematic of the mainboard, I should get ON/OFF signal coming in at the R1402 resistor, but it stays around +3,5 V. So I removed it and I was able to turn on TV with buttons on TV, but not with remote control.

What could be the problem ? Thanks...

Identifying caps on an old Zoom 9000
                  by Paxman_Swede
                  Hello!

I have two projects on my work bench. One is a friends dead JBL Xtreme speaker with a blown voltage regulator and corresponding bulged and shorted cap. That cap has clear markings so I know what replacement I need for it.

The other project however is a whole different deal. It's a Zoom 9000 guitar effect from the 90th that has developed a devil hound howl when there is no input from the guitar. I'm guessing caps problem. So, since I don't really use this effect anymore I thought it would be a perfect project to learn on.

I have studied the board and...
