    Panasonic 51" pt-51hx41e need repair.

My friend has a Panasonic 51" Rear Projection, it's been sitting in her house for awhile and every time I come over I keep saying I'm going to fix that.

Well today I did it again, but this time I managed to act upon it.

I went macgyver and found tools to access the back, didn't see the x-ray warning and plugged it in and probably irradiated myself. I ask her to take pics of it and send it to my email.

Well the pics suck so I will have to take high res shots when I go over there again.

The T.V is off-site so it might take awhile for me to go over there and test/fix it.

So I need ideas and suggestion methods of testing.

The problem is, I hear it click on but the screen remains black as if no light is being projected then two seconds later it shuts off, unable to restart. I myself can hear that high pitch frequency that a CRT TV makes. so I know it's some what working.

All the boards have matsushita capacitors every single one.

But that's where it ends, I've never worked on a CRT before and I don't know where to begin.

I also found a service manual.

Ignore the big download button, it just takes you to pdf creator. Go down below the ad on the right it will say "Get Manual."

The T.V was made in 2001

    Any ideas?

Will try to get better pictures sometime this week.

It's 10 years old. Repairs may be uneconomical. I've seen people giving working 50" RPTVs away for free.

She got this for free, and it's Panasonic.

        Your point being?

They are very difficult to repair. Panasonic make well built sets, but there are hundreds of problems that could cause this and it may take far longer than it's worth.

From what little I know about CRT and CRT RPTVs, could be the flyback, the HOT, tube driver problem, power supply problem, logic problem, and many others, that I couldn't name, having never worked on a CRT TV.

Okay, that's not quite true, I did get myself a 42" CRT RPTV - a Samsung - for free - however it was quickly apparent that it had major faults. The coolant for the blue tube had leaked all over the blue driver PCB, and had fried the driver IC at minimum (copious smoke pouring out of it.) I replaced the driver IC, but the picture was blurred in the blue channel; I eventually concluded that the tube must have either overheated and been damaged (focus voltage couldn't fix it), or the coolant had damaged more than the IC. It went to the dump, sadly.

Re: Panasonic 51" pt-51hx41e need repair.

I'm not sure what the situation is in Orlando, but here in Phoenix there are several standard definition rear projection TVs offered free every week on Craigslist with a note indicating the convergence is bad. CRT and DLP rear projection high definition sets are offered for under the cost of a single CRT for the Panasonic.

If you want to get this Panasonic working, the best you can hope for is someone who has experience with them popping up with some suggestions. But don't expect a quick response - unlike me, the experts on these sets have a real life. If you want to go it alone, I'm sure it will be a great learning experience.

Now, if you want something easier, this ad shows just what the value of the old set is.

For a number of reasons, both health and personal, I will no longer be active on this board. Any PMs asking for assistance will be ignored.

I went over there tonight, TV TURNS ON WITH PICTURE! Seems to display ok for the two seconds that it's on but goes completely dead. I suspect Power supply to be the problem.
I also want to make a note here that I did smell a electronic burning sensation.

Wondering what it could be? I need to get over there this week and pull the PSU and inspect it.

Check the screen voltage or driver boards. Unplug driver boards from CRT until you get a picture that stays on.

Panasonic TC-P55ST50 8 blinks then no blinks
                  by Andre Gilbert
Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

Problem with PANASONIC CF53 laptop after changing BIOS settings
                  by AquaMan Ua
Hello. I am asking you for a hint on how to solve the problem with my touchbook Panasonic CF53-2 standart model. After setting up the BIOS, the laptop displays the wrong image until Windows loads. (More precisely, it displays, but distorted, instead of the Panasonic image immediately after turning it on, it displays what is in photo #1 in the attached file) Then the image appears when Windows starts loading and then there are no problems with the screen until the reboot. If you enter the BIOS, just a black screen. If you connect an external screen, the image on it is the same as on the built-in...

                  by aa10aa10
                  Good day,

I have tried to remove BIOS supervisor password from Panasonic Toughbook CF-33 mk1. Model number CF-33AENABTG, unfortunately I don't have any other info.

I read the BIOS using afuwin, edited it and tried to flash new edited BIOS using afuwin. Unsuccessfully. Afuwin showed "Error: Problem erasing flash." starting with 0x00040000 and stoped. Then I tried many other options to flash BIOS from Windows without any luck. Finally i rebooted the device - and no post. Afterwards I have read the corrupted bios chip (MX25L12873F) using EZP2010 programmer....
