Samsung S42AX

I have a Samsung HP-S4233 42 inch plasma tv and it displays solid fine bright multicolored colored lines throughout the screen. There are no free spaces anywhere. The tv images appears very faintly behind this image. All Inputs display the lines whether there is no signal or not. As soon as the tv is turned on the lines appear.

I heard a do it yourself solution was to replace a group of capacitors but the ones suggested look fine. Any suggestions. even knowing what board to replace would still be cheaper than a technician coming over.

Sound comes in fine.


Any help would be appreciated.
Oh yes, the TV was manufactured in 2006. Should I just junk it?

Hello & Welcome Aboard,

I found a service manual but its not free unfortunately. Also found some things on Ebay. Are you sure you have the full model number for this HDTV? Good luck with your Tv.

The first picture is the hallway runner in my mom`s house.

The second picture looks like a plasma tv with issues on the main video board. (signal)

I would look at any surface mounted caps on the board I noted above.

Does it get worse/better hot or cold?

I heated the caps with a blow dryer and there was no difference in the picture. No caps seem to be bulging so that makes it hard. Might have to replace a whole board.
