Vizio VP50 HDTV20A - Bad upper buffer, no picture!

First of all, I'd like to say what a great forum this is, and I'm glad to be a part of it.

Now, I've done my research on this TV, and haven't found a definite answer.

I have a blown upper buffer, I removed it to test without it, the bottom half of the screen lights up, but no picture, no menus, nothing.

Sound is working, I can change inputs, turn volume up and down, etc...

I've tested all voltages, and they are all spot on. However, the logic board is blinking.

My question is, do I need to have the top buffer in order to get a picture on the bottom half? I know you can remove the bottom buffer and still see the top half, but does it work the other way around? Or maybe my logic board is bad?

    Help me guys! Thank you.

No you need the top buffer to have a picture. Without it you will get the screen to come on but it will just be black on the bottom half. Your logic board is most likely good.

If it is a Samsung panel then yes I am sure. Samsung panels are designed that way. If it is LG, and if I am remembering correctly, then I believe it should show a picture on the bottom half.

It is indeed a Samsung panel, thank you so much. I'll buy new buffers.
