    hannspree xv-s 32 lcd tv

hi all i have a 32 inch hannspree tv and it just went dead.
i opened her up and on the power board i found seven bloated capxon vents.
my question is does anyone know what might cause this or did they cuase the failure themselves. there is no other obvious signs of damage around the board but im no electrician so any advise is welcome. if the vents were replaced is it possible that nothing else will have been damaged after they went bad.
i wrote down all the details from each one but wont bore you with these but does anyone know what brand i should replace them with without going overboard!!! lol there all various ratings and mostly c6**'s and c708's
    thanks for the help folks

Capxon makes poor capacitors (probably the 2nd worst brand out there) so it is not surprising that you found them all vented.

Replace ALL Capxon capacitors (bloated or not) with something like Panasonic FR, FM, or FC series in that order of preference from digikey or mouser.

thanks for the reply. couldnt get the camera to focus at such a close range and it only a small board. do you think replacing them will work or it just worth a shot?
could you also tell me what it means when they have vent writen on them? is it a different type of capacitor as when i put vent capacitor in the search bar all i get is info on the dmage. what should i search for when looking for replacement just capacitors of the same value?

Those caps are all bloated. Replace them as I suggested in post #2.

You can follow PlainBill's instructions on how to order caps at

The chances of repairing this TV by replacing the capacitors in the power supply range from 70 to 95%. The major variable is your skill at soldering. To put it politely CapXon caps are garbage; there is no reason to believe there was another cause for the failure.

Critical parameters for replacement are value (capacity), voltage, diameter, height, and ESR rating. There are two possible ways to determine the parameters on the originals. Diameter can be measured easily, height may be a little harder. If you can read the capacity and voltage without removing them, do that. Don't fool around trying to figure out the ESR rating of the original; go with retiredcaps suggestions for series.

If it is necessary to remove the caps to determine the parameters, make a chart showing the location of each cap as you remove it. This is very important unless you have a photographic memory. And don't skip any tiny electrolytic caps; they can fail invisibly.

Once you make the selections, post the list and someone will review it before you order.
