I have a Vizio VP50 HDTV20A which I recently got from a customer, he claimed it made a loud pop and stopped working, I hauled it off, opened it up, saw two blown 10v 3300mf caps, replaced them and plugged it back in. It clicked when I plugged it in then when i hit power it clicked once, then again, the orange led on front turned green but that was the end of it. I hooked up my meter to the back and watched the power outputs from the PS board jump up to the labeled voltage when I hit the power button, then immediately after the second click, drop back down to zero. No fuses are blown and I don't see any other bad caps anywhere... Any suggestions are greatly appreciated...

Re: Vizio VP50 HDTV20A power supply turns on then off
There are at least 10 of them on each board if this is a Samsung panel. Post pictures of the back of the TV and the individual boards. Use manage attachments and do not post them inline. This could be an LG panel but that is a whole different animal. So post pictures and that should give us a better chance to help you.Comment

Re: Vizio VP50 HDTV20A power supply turns on then off
Thanks, I will take pictures when I get home, however I am fairly sure it IS a LG panel. I read other posts of folks having similar problems and all their pictures looked different from the boards in my tv. Also, the smallest board inside, which contains 4 surface mounted lcds, has a LG chip on it. But again, I will post pictures when I get home.Comment

IPMs are the large devices under the large heatsinks on each sustain board. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by sam_sam_samI have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump
One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy... -
by sam_sam_samI have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails
I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time... -
by Super360Ok so here's the story. I was watching tv one day when all of a sudden I heard a pop from the back of the tv set and rushed to unplug the set. By this time the tv already had smoke coming out the back. It was not storming or inclement weather that day to cause a power surge to the best of my abilities. When I opened the tv up, I found that the three capacitors on the psu (highlighted in red) were all bulging and looked they had exploded. I replaced all of them right away and when I went to start up the tv after the "fix" it started just showing the flashing vizio logo as soon as power...

by mrtekHi.
picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED... - Loading...
