Ok, catch you later. I'm off back to trying to sort my own set, been ongoing for 3 weeks now but I'm determined to fix the bastard (hopefully without any cash outlay - although my labour up to now would be running into several hundred quid haha!).

Yes, as you can see we have had a bit of a struggle today... but Liam.25.beta will be returning I'm sure, after first reading the manual for his new DMM
I'm sure most of us have had a similar experience. My first VOM was obtained by repairing one damaged when my boss tried to measure the 120 VAC with the VOM set to a resistance scale. Some years later I blew that one up when I found a cracked focus voltage divider.

I believe you. But there is a good reason you NEVER leave the meter leads in that configuration. I USUALLY set the range before grabbing the probes. I very rarely use the 10A range, so I NEVER check that the probes are plugged into the correct jacks. It could come back to bite me.

I would also be nervous owning a meter that can't tolerate 330 VDC.

Hi dumpystig, testing now, same as before and im getting 249volts.

so its clear the board is getting power, but powers not traveling right to main outlet??

Re: Sanyo CE37FD47 LCD No Power

I have labeled some parts of the power supply.

Since you appear to have voltage across the main filter cap, let's perform a leap and check voltages from the standby supply.

The only cable you need connected at this time is the AC input cable in the lower right corner. Turn the power supply upside down and measure the voltage across the three caps I have labeled 'Standby Filter Caps'. I would expect voltages in the 5V -15V range. If you get no voltage across any of those three caps, the standby supply is dead.

I have labeled an IC Standby SMPS Controller. What is the part number on that IC?

Hi Bill, no voltage reading on all 3 of the standby filter caps.

the IC is labeled "DL321 VK08".

Excellent!!! That IC is a Fairchild FSDL321L. It's a low power all in one SMPS controller and power FET. The datasheet link is here.

In the picture, pin 1 is in the upper left corner. With the power supply connected only to AC power, what are the voltages on pins 2, 3, 4, and 5? Do NOT attempt to measure the voltage on pins 6, 7, and 8; it could damage your meter.

Pins 6,7,8 are the drive for the SMPS transformer. Measure the voltage from pin 1 to pin 8 of the SMPS controller. This SHOULD be about 249 volts.

Time was of an essence and i purchased a new board, still got the old board here.

Bill asked me to measure the voltage from pin 1 to pin 8 of the SMPS controller, did he mean measure each of the 8 pins?

there quite diifficult to see as there underneath the controller. also got my 3 rd multimeter now, its an half decent martindale, very happy with it.

No he means put Black probe to Pin1 (GND) and Red probe to Pin8 (Drain) and post the result.
Yeah, Martindale is a good brand, you should be fine with that.
