    Sanyo CE37FD47 LCD No Power

I have the above tv, it has no power whatsoever, it has a vestel 17pw26-4 psu board, i have 3 of these boards - all give no power to tv.

I have tried putting the the red point of multi meter on all pins going from psu to main board, hoping to find a 5v standby, all pins give no voltage.

Am i testing correct? where does the black point from multimeter go?

also i cant find a service maual.

This is a dual section supply, so 5V standby should be present. I usually put the black probe on a mounting screw.

The pictures gave me some information, a similar picture of the back side of the power supply would be helpful.

No output on three boards??? Are you sure you have mains voltage going to the board in the first place?

It's been a LONG day, so I'm going to pass on marking up a picture. I have a few points to check.

            1. With power disconnected, check F800 - the reddish brown cylinder. It should read less than 1 ohm.

            2. If the fuse is good, with power connected check the voltage across C819, the large filter cap.

            3. Does anything connect to PL815, or is there a jumper across it?

Hey PlainBill, do you not think that it would be a massive coincidence that all three boards would be suffering the same fault(s)? And to have no voltage on any pins? I reckon either the mains lead or it's plug-top fuse is o/c or the method of testing is incorrect...

Yes, that crossed my mind. However, rather than beating my chest and proclaiming my brilliance I choose to do something useful and make some troubleshooting suggestions.

Obviously Liam .25 is an early beta version, but even a beta version should be given the courtesy of assuming he knows how to do a few tests. After all, we don't know the history of these supplies.

Re: Sanyo CE37FD47 LCD No Power

first off i have done some basic continuity tests on the mains cable and tested the fuse, power is traveling through to main input, just not through to main board.

f800 fuse is fine. (measuring 0)
c819 im unsure how to test. and what to test for?
pl815 is not in use and has no jumper.

testing the large filter cap on 3 boards: (continuity).
maybe i need to do another test?

                    1. no beep, reading 1 (this has been the main one i been working on)
                    2. no beep, reading 1
                    3. beep, reading 0

Hmm... Yes, I was also trying to help, after all this is what I thought sites such as this are meant to be about; can't for the life of me see how you can make the assumption from my replies that I was "beating my chest and proclaiming my brilliance". But you stated your day had been a LONG one, so I suppose I can forgive your tetchiness - I hope today is a much more pleasurable one for you my friend

Liam.25, to test C819 you need to have your DMM set to VDC and connect the leads to the pins on the cap; black to -GND and red to + as marked on the board.

Test as dumpystig suggested, with AC power connected. Be CAREFUL. Voltage could be from 165 VDC (USA / Canada) to over 320 volts (rest of the world).

im think the postive is the side with silver line down the side?

There should also be a marking at each cap location on the board; now you know which is the neg you should be able to deduce the particular cap markings for your board...

I would suggest you do some googling for capacitors, capacitor testing etc., it's amazing what you will find. I only have a basic knowledge of electronics (self taught) and I'm learning every day, so if there's something I'm unsure of I google and do some research.

thanks dumpystig, i looked looked closer and found the negative sign, i tested c819 and am getting no voltage with power connected.

im new to testing componenets and im learning very fast.

here is a pic of the setting i used to test c819, can you confirm its the correct setting?

Nope mate, you got the red lead wrong. It goes in the V/ohms/mA socket. Black lead is correct in the Common socket. You have the correct range on the selector dial. test it now with the leads correctly connected.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                          Assuming...

                                          Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...
