Vizio vp50hdtv20a plasma sound but no picture

    Hello Guys:

I have a Vizio vp50hdtv20a plasma sound but no picture.
    Voltages are as follows:

    VOLTAGE VOLTAGE
    SHOULD BE IS
    Vs 207 207.7
    Va 63 63.3
    Vsc -190 -190
Ve 94 124? I'm not sure about the Ve test point.

I found two burnt resistors on the Ysus on left side next to the buffers.
I replaced the Ysus, on power up the same two resistors become VERY hot. I unplugged the flat ribbon cable from the logic board to the Ysus and the resistors no longer get hot.
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    1. Ask the moderators to delete your post in the 'Computer displays' section.

    2. Replace the buffers and you probably should replace the Y-Sustain at the same time.

      Hi everyone,

I have the same problem as the original poster so I didn't want to make a new thread for what seems like a dead horse. For sake its just mortally wounded and not dead yet, can someone please take a gander at the attached photos to see if there is anything that has visibly malfunctuned or burnt up? I haven't been able to find any tell-tale signs of breakage, so I hope you can help.

Thanks a bunch, sorry to be another screwed Vizio owner which I'm sure has been a major thorn in the smart folks side.

      Thanks again

THis is most definitely what you need:

        http://www.coppelltvrepair.com/p/805...n-board-repair

Doing a DIY is not really recommended on this particular board...or I should say set of boards.

For a starter the Y-main and the two buffers should be seen as one whole because damage on either often times affects the other.

And while most of the times it is the upper buffer board that fails and causes overload and failure in the YSUS, there are times when another module - say the Y-main or even the main plasma logic - causes the failure and damages the buffers and the Y-Main in result.

The most common repair on the YSUS involves the sustain driving circuits located at the RIGHT side of the board when looking from the output - 88N30W, 2SK2837, 20NK50Z etc.

But often times there are casualties beyond them and if they don't get treated properly the newly installed parts can fail causing even more damage.

Long story short, we do not recommend even replacing the boards with working ones, which is the reason why we are not selling (for now; we may change that in future) a replacement set for those particular boards.

You can read more in the listing above and our blog.
