LG 50PC3D Plasma -bad caps or is there more to this?

I'm counting 7 bulging capacitors on the power supply board, and none on the other boards.

Just wondering if this is the z-sus board or the other boards?

What would your best guess be based on these pictures?
If I replace the bad caps do you think this problem will go away?

I am by no means an expert, but I am a quick study on things, here's hoping I can fix this.

Thank you in advance for your time, believe me, I appreciate it!

Don't post pictures inline, it slows loading pages and inconveniences the experts like retiredcaps, as well as annoying others - like me. Use 'Manage Attachments' (under the text entry area).

That doesn't look like a Z-sustain problem, but I could be wrong. The first step would be to replace the bulging caps. If you live in the USA 7 caps from Digikey will probably cost you about $10, including shipping.

Obviously you replace caps that appear to be bad. I would suspect the buffer(s) to be the problem with this symptom.

Sorry guys, I don't see a way to edit my post, otherwise I would change it immediately. (is there a timer on the edit button?)

Thanks, I will replace the caps and see how it goes, and please advise if you want me to upload the images as attachments as per your requests either later in this thread or however you want.

Just finished replacing capacitors. Powers up fine, but problem still exists.

I have no personal dealings with CoppellTV (or financial gain), but I have been following their blog and they seem like a reputable company. One member reported good dealings with them.

Their latest post makes you think about repair or replace.

They also have ebay auctions to repair/replace parts.

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

I may have that board. Could you post a picture of the buffer? It may be one long board or 2 shorter boards. In an LG they will be on the far left when facing the open rear of the TV.

Get the numbers on the white label. That will be the part number.

The fault in buffers is usually the flat pack IC's. Very difficult to change individually with highly specialized equipment. The parts numbers are easy to search out.

I replaced the y-sus ,z-sus and still showing the same picture ,I think maybe is the power supply.

I hope somebody can find the fix , If I fixed first I will posted.

                          Thanks!!

It is a buffer problem not y-sus or z-sus. Replace buffers and it should work fine.

                              Thanks my friend ,
I found the problem it was the 6871QDH089A ON THE 50PC3D -LG /SHORTED FET

This damage on the power supply the FET SD20N60 Q852 I believe is the location and the Y-sus and z-sus board was bad too.

Yeah the FETs shorting on the buffer are a common problem with this panel.
