sony kdl-46S4100 dark, no sound, inverter?

I have a sony kdl-46S4100 that one day went dark,
    no sound,
    powers on by the remote,
has a click at power on,
    power light glows steady,
no backlight that I can see
    no heat detected anywhere
remote fails to do anything after power on
    no sound, no smell

Ive been swapping parts from ebay trying one different board at a time

power supply board - no change
    main board - no change

I have a salvaged tcon board and inverter board that i have not tried yet.

Anyone have a beginners troubleshoot algorithm that I can do with a multimeter? Sorry in advance, I'm trying to learn this as I go.

No blinks - this model does not do that

          Faulty panel or t-con.

Could be either with this panel.

check for 12vdc or so at t-con board fuse (very small near plug).

Grey panel (some backlight trying to get through) could mean no power to t-con.

Run through inputs with dvd plyer hooked up and listen for audio.

Just a few ideas for you.

            Solved!

Thanks to cadiman for the tip - I swapped out the salvaged t-con board and it started working. I am still looking for the fuse in case this one fails too.

            My process was:
take the back off and look for any bad caps anywhere on the PS or main board - dead end
research web for known issues -couldnt find any exactly like mine - most had sound or some other first symptom
swap out power supply with a ps from ebay - dead end
found another guy on ebay selling the guts of a tv like mine with cracked screen
swap out main board - dead end
put all oriiginal parts back in between attempts
buy a correct screwdriver that loosens really small phillips screws without stripping
            remove tcon board
jerked out the ribbon cable from the board and tv - then found there was a little tab that popped up that pinched down the cable - luckily I didnt destroy the ribbon
            test
shout up the stairs that I fixed my tv

Thanks for the tip and the forum

You would have better luck using a microscope than any type of eyeglasses to find the fuse on the t-con. should be next to the input plug. The board will be marked F with a number after it like (F101). F for fuse. R for resister , D for diode etc.

If the fuse is blown on the t-con do not jump it with solder.

              Glad we could help you!

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                  Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Hi everyone, newcomer in this forum, i watched tons of video from Sorin, i like the way i calmly explain things, i did quite some console repair, i am not that bad at micro-soldering, but troubleshooting where the issue is, is definitely where i still have progress to make. Usually i was able to fix the console because the failure was obvious, or because i was able to find someone with similar measures on the board and was pinpointing what to replace that way.
Nevertheless, let's say, i don't come as a total beginner.
I have this old laptop, which suit perfectly my needs, with the...

[SOLVED] M1 MacBook Pro clicking sound logic board 5V no power on A2338 820-02020
                  by slimmy182
Hello, I bought this Mac from a friend, he said that it simply stop working. The MacBook looks very clean but does not power on, stuck on 5v 0.42A, and sometimes display 5V and 0A (then 0.071A and again 0A).

I opened it looking for some problem, it was not touched before for sure and the board is very clena, no spot of corrosion at all from what I can see. Voltage on multimeter of the board off the case it's the same, 5V 0.42A. But then I noticed this "clicking sound" come from the board ( I attached here the audio file).

Looking on google I found this:...
