LG 50PX1D Z sustain board, what exactly goes bad?

    LG 50PX1D Z sustain board, what exactly goes bad?

    I have seen a few of this model with the same problem. It always get repaired with just board swapping. I currently have two of these tv's, one what I believe has a bad Z sus. (hear noise but no picture. I can see the backlights, but no picture).
    So I was curious what part(s) go bad? I have a little experience with electronics so I would like to swap the part, not the board.

      The usual failure is one or both IPMs (the hybrid ICs under the large heat sinks. Other components may be involved.

          I have a LG 50PX1D and there is no picture and after reading online I suspected the Z-SUS board. I tested the IPMs for shorts and I did not find any. The TV turns on and I touched all the IPMs. On the Z-SUS board I have 1 cold and one warm and on the Y-SUS board I have 1 cold and 1 warm. If they are cold does that mean they are not working? The fuses are not blown so how do I test these?

              They should be warm after operating for a short period of time. Cold to the touch indicates something inside has gone OPEN, and as such has failed and also why the fuse has not blown.

                  usually if one of the IPM's fail on the yus,then another one fails on the zsus.
                  replacing just the ysus ipm alone will result in a rather loud bang,as the IPM's tend to explode,rather than the fuse blowing.A very poor lg "lemon".

                      So if I replace both cold IPM's then the TV should work?
